Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) requires an approved inspection
prior to installation of ANY roof coverings and is require on the entire roof when spaced
or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Asphalt shingles are
required to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and
water shield is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above
the roof eave and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections.
Roof ventilation is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer
installation instructions, whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection
of elastomeric or similar type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the
manufacturer technical representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project
address) has been applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof
material brand name) roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final
inspection.
Roof inspections for ROOFS OVER 6/12 PITCH: 3rd party inspection will be required, the 3rd
party inspection report will be collected at final roof inspection performed by City of
Wheat Ridge. If report is not available the final inspection will not be completed.

This application is exclusively for new permits for residential roofs and for licensed
contractors only. This type of permit is ONLY being processed online --do not come
to City Hall to submit an application in person. Permits are processed and issued in
the order they are received and due to the volume of requests, time to process
varies and is subject to change. YOU WILL BE CONTACTED WHEN YOUR
PERMIT IS READY FOR PICK-UP AND WILL BE GIVEN A SPECIFIC DATE
AND TIME WINDOW TO COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION. You will be notified if
your contractor's license or insurance has expired, and you may update those

For all other requests:
Homeowners wishing to obtain a roofing permit must apply for the permit in person
at City Hall. Revisions to existing permits (for example, to add redecking) must be
completed in person at City Hall. All other non -roofing permits must be completed in
person at City Hall. The Building Division will be open from 7:30-10:30 a.m.,
Monday through Friday to process these types of requests.

5. Any and all material left over is the property of Shield Construction & Restoration.
6. Customer hereby acknowledges that Shield Construction & Restoration may be subject to delays occasioned by weather, labor disputes and material supply
shortages which are beyond the control of Shield Construction & Restoration and Customer hereby acknowledges that all such delays do not constitute
abandonment and are not included in calculating time frames for payment and performance.
7. Payment is due upon completion. Any portion remaining unpaid will bear the interest of the rate of 18% per annum commencing 30 days after completion.
Customer agrees to pay all collection fees and/or attorney fees needed in pursuit of collecting any remaining unpaid portion. All payments and checks shall
be made payable to Shield Construction & Restoration.
8. All warranties are void if payment is not made hereunder when due. Labor and materials warranty is nontransferable.
9. Labor warranty does not cover damage caused by strong winds, lightning, hail or other acts of God.
10. Shield Construction & Restoration shall hold in trust any payment received from Customer until Shield Construction & Restoration has delivered roofing materials at the
site or has performed a majority of the roofing work on your property.

This contract does not obligate the homeowner or Shield Construction & Restoration in anyway unless it is approved by the insurance company and
accepted by Shield Construction & Restoration.
When price is agreeable and is determined, it shall become the final contract price of $ and the homeowner authorizes Shield Construction

Re: Application for a building permit to install photovoltaic panels on: 4550 Field St.,

Dear Sir:
This letter is to certify that the roof structure of the reference building has been
inspected and deemed to be adequate to support the additional load of 3 lb /sq ft that
will be added by the installation of the photovoltaic panels and supporting frames.
Calculations are presented to certify the integrity of the panel connections under the
maximum wind uplift and live load conditions.
Based on panel loads at anchor points, the roof structure is adequate to support the
small additional dead load of the panels. The panel racking connections to the roof
structure are made with 5/16" - 4" Lag bolts embedded through the roof sheathing and
the roof rafters. They are adequate to support the maximum wind uplift load and the
maximum live shear load. These Lag bolts have a pullout strength of >600 lb which
gives us a pullout safety factor in access of 4. The racking structure is assembled with
"POWER -STRUT PS 200 EH" structural channels as shown in the attached drawings.
This configuration provides adequate structural integrity with a large safety margin.

RACKING SYSTEM
The racklinal
- stem -Consists of the fQ �coni �)onent�
1 Mounting bracket.
It has the following components:
a- 6 inch PS 200 EI-F' channels. This channel is anchored to the root'rafter using
2 x (5/16 in x 4 in) lag bolts.
These bolts have aTension (Pull) strength of 600 lbs or a combined Tension strength of 1200 Ibs.
(See Figure I and manufacturer's data)
These brackets are, mounted at 4 It intervals which was adequate based on structural calculations.
2 Mounting channel.
"POW ER-ST ,UT PS 200 EH" channels are connected in a length of 20 feet increments with 1 ,4 in
expansion slots between them,
These channels Marc attached to the mounting Bracket as shown in Figure 2.
3- Tie Down Brackets.
Middle and End tic down brackets shown in Figure 3 are used to tic down the solar panels to the
mounting C.hannels.
The Aluminum frarnes of the solar panels which are tied down to of Front and Rear channels,
provide additional structural strength to the racking system.
Note: In order to insure adequate grounding, a grounding WEEB is attached to each panel.
