My water heater and furnace are located in an insulated mechanical room in the attic. The constant worry Search customer reviews of that 50 gallons of water cascading onto the ceiling has now been eliminated. Excellent install and it works Search flawlessly. Quiet, efficient, hot water all day long if you want it. Worth every dime and will save me money long term. Plumber mentioned that the new 50 gallon water heaters are 2" larger in diameter and longer than the older ones like mine and it barely fit through the attic stair opening. The newer ones would require some carpenter skills to make that opening larger. So, there's another good reason to go tankless. Love having tankless over a tank July 31, 2018 Had this unit professionally installed a year and a half ago. It's been great for me and I gained space in my utility room having it mounted on the wall. I don't notice any cold water sandwich issues. I suspect this could be due to either not enough gas input supply available or super cold inlet temperature. I live in the PNW so the water temperate is not freezing. With this unit you have to wait for the hot water to come through the lines just like a regular tank system, but once it hot it's hot forever. There is a noticeable hum when the unit fires up, but it's not that loud so not a big deal for me. My unit is spaced off the wall with 2x4s so maybe that helps with avoiding too much sound transfer. April 20, 2018 Had I listened to the negative reviews instead of the hype, I never would have allowed my plumber to install this brand/model of tankless water heater in my home. Even with the unit fastened securely to a very solid load-bearing basement wall it makes every attempt to provide us with whole -home -humming while we wait for the warm water to arrive at faucets that are seriously no more than 15' away from the unit in actual, unexaggerated, pipe length. For me to think I needed to insulate al( my hot water lines as well as the intake line to actually start seeing energy savings or better yet more immediate hot water was another waste of time and money. After upgrading my home to energy efficient lighting and appliances I was routinely misled to believe this was going to be THE major piece that help me realize an immediate return on my investment.
