Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) requires an approved inspection
prior to installation of ANY roof coverings and is require on the entire roof when spaced
or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Asphalt shingles are
required to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and
water shield is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above
the roof eave and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections.
Roof ventilation is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer
installation instructions, whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection
of elastomeric or similar type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the
manufacturer technical representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project
address) has been applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof
material brand name) roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final
inspection.
Roof inspections for ROOFS OVER 6/12 PITCH: 3rd party inspection will be required, the 3rd
party inspection report will be collected at final roof inspection performed by City of
Wheat Ridge. If report is not available the final inspection will not be completed.

Residential Roofing Permit Application
This application is exclusively for new permits for residential roofs and for licensed
contractors only. This type of permit is ONLY being processed online --do not come .
to City Hall to submit an application in person. Permits are processed and issued in
the order they are received and due to the volume of requests, time to process
varies and is subject to change. YOU WILL BE CONTACTED WHEN YOUR
PERMIT IS READY FOR PICK-UP AND WILL BE GIVEN A SPECIFIC DATE
AND TIME WINDOW TO COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION. You will be notified if
your contractor's license or insurance has expired, and you may update those
documents at the time you are issued your permit.
For all other requests:
Homeowners wishing to obtain a roofing permit must apply for the permit in person
at City Hall. Revisions to existing permits (for example, to add redecking) must be
completed in person at City Hall. All other non -roofing permits must be completed in
person at City Hall. The Building Division will be open from 7:30-10:30 a.m.,
Monday through Friday to process these types of requests.

The job site was visited on November 2nd, 1998 to observe the
footings and footing reinforcing for the new foundation.
The following was observed:

The forms with most of the reinforcing were in place.
with the recent snow and melting snow, some of the bearing
soils were wet, but the melting snow from the building above
were diverted away from the foundations.
Some of the footing layout and stepping of the footing had
been modified from the original plans.
The dowels for the footings were to be installed at the time
of placing concrete.
The forms for the interior pad footings were in place with
reinforcing.
The footing forms and reinforcing appeared to be in general
conformance with the construction documents and our re
recommendations.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. The configuration of the footings shall be verified with the
architect and the owner to ensure that adequate frost cover
can be obtained with the backfill and landscaping as planned.
2. The location of all footings shall be verified by the
contractor.
3. The footings shall be protected against frost as requited.
4. All work shall be completed in accordance with the
construction documents and our recommendations.

The job site was visited on November 5th, 1998 to observe the
foundation walls.
The following was observed:
1. The footings with dowels were in place, with the changes to
the footings in the northwest corner in accordance with our
recommendations.
2. The forms and reinforcing were generally in place for the
foundation walls. Portions of the north walls were being
constructed at the time of the inspection.
3. The top of the foundation walls will be approximately 6"
higher than those indicated in the construction documents.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. An additional horizontal *5 reinforcing bar shall be added to
the two inside bars in the walls at the elevation below the
bottom of the windows at the west wall. (Re. Detail A-Ill)
2. A perimeter drain shall be installed with a 1/4" drop per
foot, draining to daylight. The trench for the perimeter drain
shall not undermine the footing, but shall be at least aliI
distance away from the footing. The low area footings at the
east side shall be backfilled and compacted with the
foundation drain placed at the elevation of the typical
footings for the foundations.
The window wells shall be drained separate from the footing
perimeter drain.
3. All work shall be completed in accordance with the
construction documents and our recommendations.

1. It was recommended that a portion of the "high footing" at the
north side of the northwest corner be removed and the step of
the footing be located at the west side of the northwest
corner.
