As presently designed the smoke doors at all levels close on general alarm. In accordance with UBC 905.9.3 item 4, smoke door operation, for the doors at the elevator entrances, shall be actuated only by the smoke detector located directly in front of that elevator entrance. Operation will be on a per floor basis. This will prevent the doors from closing on a passenger exiting the elevator when a general alarm is registered. Additionally, the doors will remain open on the designated floor when the elevator system goes into Phase I Fire Recall. Elevator passenger safety will be improved as well as providing a more accessible system for firefighter response. Please modify operation of the system as noted and feel free to call with any additional questions or concerns. As presently designed the smoke doors at all levels close on general alarm. In accordance with UBC 905.9.3 item 4, smoke door operation, for the doors at the elevator entrances, shall be actuated only by the smoke detector located directly in front of that elevator entrance. Operation will be on a per floor basis. This will prevent the doors from closing on a passenger exiting the elevator when a general alarm is registered. Additionally, the doors will remain open on the designated floor when the elevator system goes into Phase I Fire Recall. Elevator passenger safety will be improved as well as providing a more accessible system for firefighter response. Please modify operation of the system as noted and feel free to call with any additional questions or concerns.
