One soil boring was advanced to a total depth of 20 ft. Soils encountered consisted ofa
clay soil/fill grading into a sandy clay (SC) and sands with gravel (SP). A lease of fat clay . .
(CH) was observed at about 11 feet. Bedrock was intercepted at approximately 14 feet,
and consisted of a claystone(CLS). The boring was continued to 20 ft. to verify bedrock.
At this interval a silt stone (MIS) was observed.
During drilling operations, the driller reported water at approximately 11 feet, subsequent
measurement through the hollow-stem auger established a water level of 10.5 feet.
A summary of blow counts is as follows:

A CUE 75 drill rig using 4-1/4" I.D. hollow stem auger was used to advance the soil
boring.. Samples were collected with a 2-1/2" O.D. split-spoon sampler driven by a 140
lb. SPT hammer.

An administrative variance to allow a 10% minimum billboard sepazation vaziance
(60')to the 600' minimum billboazd separation requirement to allow the placement of a
billboazd on a property zoned Light Industrial and located at 4909 Mazshall Street.
The applicant, 3M National Advertising, was heazd previously before the Board of Adjustment, for
an 18' maximum billboazd height vaziance for the same billboard on the same propeRy. They were
approved for the height vaziance, with the condition that the proposed billboard was to be relocated
from iYs existing location at 6285 West 48th Avenue, and would be oriented towards the neazby
Interstate-76.
Since that hearing, the applicant re-approached the city requesting the approval of an administrative
variance to allow a 10% minimum billboard separation variance, to the 600' minimum billboard
separation requirement. Approval of this request would permit the placement of a 32' billboard, 540'
from an existing billboard, both oriented towazds the neazby Interstate-70. This request would also
nullify the previous approval for the height vaziance, thereby requiring a maximum height
requirement of 32' (measured from finished grade, 5' from the structures foundation).
The administrative process was completed, and all jurisdiction has been met. Staff did not receive
any registered complaints and, based on the required criteria, Staff recommends approval.

The Department of Transportation has determined after reviewing the
proposed locations for Sillboards alonq I-70, that the four locations
would comply with State and Federal outdoor advertising laws.
The location at I-70 and Kipling, Northwest corner, on the "Pig Skins"
property, would comply if the sign is located on the most westerly
portion of the property,(approximately 650 feet, west of the center
line of kipling Street.
The location at I-70 and I-76 on the "Ready Mix" property would comply
if the sign location is 500 feet form the existing billboard on the
D.A.V. p=operty_
The last two locations, North of I-70 and west of Harlin Street, would
comply if Y_he signs were installed 500 feet apaz't.
