RE: Fire alarm system for The Comfort Inn, 4710 Miller Street, Wheat Ridge, CO.
The following aze our plan review comments;
10/01/01
1) Hotels three or more stories in height or containing 20 or more guest rooms, shall be
provided with a manual and automatic fire alarm system Manual Sre alazm boxes aze not
required for interior corridors having smoke detectors. UFC 97 1007.2.9.1.1, exception.
2) Smoke detectors shall be provided in common azeas and interior corridors serving an
occupant load of ten or more. UFC 97 1007.2.9.1.2.
3) Heat detectors (4) may be deleted in the pool azea. Add heat detector within the pool
boiler room UFC 97 1007.2.9.1.4.
4) Guest rooms for persons with hearing impairments shall be provided with visible and
audible alarm indication appliance activated by both the in room smoke detector and the
building fire alazm system LJFC 97 1007.2.9.1.5.
5) Remote indicating devices shall be provided guest rooms which are hearing/visually
impaired, and where detection device activation is not readily visible to responding Sre
fighters. UFC 97 10073.1.1. Amended.
6) All fire detection systems shall be Style D 4 wire systems or addressable. UFC
97100733.4.
7) 135 degree rate of rise heat detector is required to be installed within two (2) feet of
sprinkler to activate shunt trip breaker that disconnects the main line power supply prior to
activation of sprinkler system.
8) Elevators shall not recall from general alarm. Smoke detectors located in elevator lobbies
sha11 be not more than five (5) feet from elevator door frame and not closer than twelve
(12) inches and centered on openings.
9) Fire alarm evacuation signals shall be subject to field inspection. Additional units may be
required. LJFC 97 1007333.
10) The fire alarm and sprinkler systems shall be supervised by an approved central,
proprietary, or remote station service, or a local alarm that will give an alazui signal at a
constantly attended station. UFC 97 1003.3.1.
11) A satisfactory test of the entire system shall be made in the presence of the Fire Mazshal.
All fixnctions shall be tested. UFC 97 1007.3.4.2.
12) Twenty four hours notice required for all tests and inspections. UFC 97 1033.2.2.
