This memo serves as an evaluation needed for review and approval of an additional driveway to a property. This requires the approval from the Directorof Public Works per Section 26-501.D.4.g of the City Code. The property owner at the above address is proposing to construct a new driveway access to his property. This will be a second driveway to accommodate a proposed garage. The new driveway will access to 36`" Place. The existing one is located on Moore Court. As a result, this corner lot will have one driveway on each street. These streets are low volume residential streets. Per Chapter 26 of the Code. Only one access will be allowed per property and additional access may allowed only if it will not cause a safety problem. The referenced language is as follow: Section 26-501.D.4.d For all uses, one access point per property ownership will be permitted, unless a site plan or traffic study approved by the city shows that additional access points are required to adequately handle driveway volumes and will not be detrimental to traffic flow on adjacent public streets. Section 26-501.D.4.g The Public Works Director may approve a modification to or waiver to the vehicle access standards and requirements stated in this subsection (4), based upon consideration ot traffic characteristics, both on and off of the site, with the primary purpose of preserving public safety. Based on the site plan submitted, the proposed garage is positioned back away from the street where it will not create any obstructed view to traffic. The field inspection reveals that the proposed driveway is located in an open area where positive sight distance will be maintained as shown in the attached photos. In summary, the proposed driveway and garage will not create any traffic safety issues based on the above findings.
