Asphalt shingles are required to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer installation instructions, whichever is more stringent. The micro-lam beam was observed to not be the full length of the 2x10 floor joists at the end opposite the column the beam is supporting. This was done to avoid the copper water pipes at the far end that penetrated the existing floor joists. The micro- lam beam was bolted to the existing floor joist as specified on our drawing. We checked the shear and bearing of the existing 2x10 at the short end of the micro-lam beam. The shear and bearing were determined to be adequate and were accepted by our office. The contractor observed there was an existing foundation below the bearing wall. The concrete was more than 8 inches thick in ihe area of the two required footings. I asked him to drill holes in the slab to determine the depth of the concrete below the existing slab at the location of the two new footings. We determined the concrete was more than 8 inches tlrick in the azea of the required footings. T observed the location of the holes and the concrete thickness during my site observation.
