The purpose of the site visit was to make observations and recommendations regarding the proposed window openings. The residence is a single story structure that was constructed in 195o. For reference, the main entrance is assumed to face due north. The proposed window openings are in the kitchen, which is located on the south side of the home. A 6 -foot opening is proposed in the south wall and up to an 8 -foot opening is proposed for the west wall. Both walls are constructed with 2x4'8. The south facing wall has a gabled end roof and the west wall is bearing with a tributary area of 9 - feet. The roof is constructed of cut frame members with an asphaltic shingle covering. The roof snow load for this residence is 30 psf, per the Jefferson County website. A dead load of 15 psf was used for design. The following is recommended for each opening: 1. South wall- (2)2x8 header with (2)2x4 trimmers and (1)king stud at each end. 2. West wall- (2)2x10 header with (2) 2x4 trimmers and (1)king stud at each end.
