The following is a summary of the observed conditions as well as the recommended designs and modifications to perform in order to remove this wall. Wall #1: Wall #1 is running north to south and separates the kitchen from the living room. This wall is carrying approximately 11'-6" of attic load and approximately 5'-9" of roof load. Approximately 13'-9" of the wall line is to be removed. Commentary: The wall line between the kitchen and the dining room has an approximate 2' jog with the wall to the north bearing approximately 12" to the east of the main beam in the crawl space and the wall to the south bearing approximately 12" to the west of the main beam in the crawl space. In order to remove any section of this wall, (2) beams will need to be installed in the attic with a third beam installed in the crawl space to carry the point load from the beams above. Detailed installation instructions are provided below.
