Dear Mamy' For over 15 years we've you for choosing Professional Roofing & Exteriors for your roofing project.
taken pride in providing an outstanding customer experience before, during, and after your roof
replacement. As part of our commitment to communication, we would like to share a few notices and
exclusions that are reflected in our proposal. if there are any areas where you have particular concerns,
please talk to us and we can revise your proposal to include any additional services or contingencies you
would like to address.
Notices and Exclusions:
We will need access to your driveway throughout the job. A container will be dropped off shortly
before the job and picked up upon completion. The container may leave small marks on the driveway
that disappear over time. The contract price reflects the use of a dumpster in the driveway, We can
make alternate disposal arrangement for a fee in special cases (for example, a newly -poured
driveway, or unusually thin slabs). Our experience has been that we have used containers without
incident on several hundred projects.
During the project or on completion we may place a small sign in your yard. Yard signs are one of
the ways we can best advertise our company and the quality work we do. The sign will be picked up
within 14 days of completion.
We will make every effort to protect siding, windows, doors, porches, decks, patios, and surrounding
grounds and bushes with plywood or tarps. Due to the high volume of debris being removed, minor
damage may occur.
We will remove antennas, cables, satellite dishes, and any roof -mounted hardware to allow a proper
roof installation. If desired, we will re -mount these in the same location and seal fasteners. We will
handle these items carefully, but cannot guarantee against damage. in particular, alignment and
tuning of satellite dishes and antennas are the responsibility of the homeowner and may require a
professional installer.
• Removing and installing a new roof involves moving several thousand pounds of materials and in
some cases can cause some drywall nails to "pop" out in the ceiling. While this is uncommon in our
experience, it is more likely in cases of a vaulted ceiling that is attached directly to roof rafters or in
cases of sub -standard drywall installation. We cannot be responsible for cracks or nail pops.
However, please inform us of any areas with vaulted ceilings and we will try to minimize impacts in
that area.
• When removing shingles around siding, we cannot be responsible for damage during tear off to the
siding that is related to previouslexisting rotting or softening. We will inform you If there is
deteriorated siding that compromises the roof installation and can often recommend someone who
can provide repairs
As the authorized party to this roofing contract, I acknowledge receipt of these conditions of
contract and agree to the bid price in the accompanying proposal that reflects these terms unless
specifically state s an amen ent to the contract

MULTI-PURPOSE MODULE
175 WATT
HIGH POWER. HIGH EFFICIENCY.
SINGLE CRYSTAL SILICON PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULE
WITH 175W MAXIMUM POWER
Thfs single crystal VS watt module features 162%encapsulated cell efficiency
and 13.45% module efficiency. Using 6reakthrough technology perfected 6y
Sharp's nearly 45 years of research and development, these modules use a
textured cell surface to reduce reflection of sunlight, and BSF (Black Surface
Fieid) structure to improve conversion efficiency. An anti-reflective coating
provides a uniform blue color and increases the absorption of light in all
weather conditions. Common applications indude offiw buildings, cabins,
solar power stations, solar villages, radio relay stations, beacons, and traffic
lights. ideal for grid-connected systems and designed to withstand rigorous
operating conditions, Sharp's NT-175U1 modules offer the maximum usable
power per Square foot of solar array.

2. Determine the exposure category
of your installation site
The Caiifornia Building Code= defines wind exposure carego-
ries as followr. .
exrosuaL s has terrain with buildings, forests or sur-
face irregularities, covering at least 20 percent of the
ground level area extending 1 mile (1.61 km) or more
from the sire.
FacrosvxE c has terrain that is Flac and generally open,
extending 1h mile (0.81 km) or more From the sire in
any quadrant or havingsmtcered obstructions extending
one-half mi(e or more fram the sire in any fu11 quadranc.
This category indudu fla[ or gently rolling open muntry
and grasslands. Sites narmally wnsidered as Exposure
B, 6ut which are subject to topographic amplificafion
orchanneiizafion, such as ridgerops or draws, sha11 be
considered as Faposure C.T
saaosvna n represents the most severe exposure in ar-
eas with basic wind speeds of 80 miles per hour (mph)
(129 km/h) or greater and has terrain that is tlat and
unobstructed facing lazge bodies of water over 1 mile
(1.61 km) or more in width relative ro any quadrant of
the building site. F.xposure D extends inland from the
shoreline Va mile (0.40 km) or 10 umes the building
heighi, whichever is greater.
3. Determine Design Wind Pressure
required for your installation
Design Wind Pressure is the amount of wind pressure that a
structure is designed to withstand, expressed here in pounds
per squaze foot (psf). To de[ermine the Design Wind Pressure
required for your installation, apply the following facrors using
Table 1:
• ynur Basic Wind Speed (determined in step 1),
• your exposure category (determined in step 2), and
• the height of your roof above the ground.
If your values fall sign3ficantly outside the range of the table,
or ffyour Design Wind Pressure requirement exceeds 50 psf,
consult UniRac, a professional engineer, or your local building
authoriry.

4a. Determine Minimum Design Dead
and Live Loads for standard rafter
spacing. . .
Poot spacing refers to the space between L-feet (or standoffs, if
applicable) along the sazne SolarMount rail (see Fig. 2, p. S).
If you aze spacing feet to match a standazd rafrer spacing, con-
sul[ Table 2 ro determine your Minimum Design Live and Dead
Loads per fooring. (If you prefer to maximize foot spacing to
minimize roof penetrauons, skip to Step 4b on p. 8.) Locate the make and model of che PV module that you plan to
install and che rafrer spacing at your installation site. Read the
Minimum Design Dead Load and read or extrapolate the Mini-
mum Design live Load for the MaYimum Foot Spacing and the
Design Wind Pressure yoa derermined in step 3.
To meet code, you must verify that the roof rafter assembLy
at your installation site has the capacity to resist the sum of
the Design Dead andLive Loads. -
If they do not, ay smaller foorer spacing. (In this case, you may
elect to use the procedures oudined in Srep 4bJ If the result
is still no[ acceptable, relocate [he array to a stronger area of
the roof or strengthen the inadequa[e &aming elements. For
assistance, consult a local professional engineer.
Go to s[ep 5 on page 8.

VN!RAC' Installarion Manual 214 - SolarMount Code-Compliant Planning and Assembly
4b.... Or verify Maximum Foot
Spacing and Determine Minimum
Design Dead and Live Loads
To minimize roof penetrations, consult Table 3(p. 7) ro deter
mine MaYimum Foot Spacing allowable for the Design Wind
Pressure that you derermined in Step 3.
Find the make and mode] of the PV module you plan to instalt,
[hen read or ex[rapolate Foot Design Live Loads and Dead
Loads at the maximum spacing.
To meet code, you must verify thatfootspacing u at or below
the dimension listed and that the roof rafter assembly at
your instailation site has the mpacity to withstand the sum
of the Design Dead Load and Design Live Load fnr the speci-
fied spacing.
If they do not, try smaller fwter spacing. If the result is still not
accep[able, relocare the array [o a stronger area of the roof or
srrengthen the inadequare framing elements. For assistance,
consult a local professional engineer.
5. Verify acceptabie Rail End Overhang
Rai] End Overhang (Fig. 2) must equal SO pereent or less of
foot spacing. Thus, if fwt spacing is 72 inches, the Rail End
Overhang can be up to 36 inches. In this case, tuvo Eeec can
support a rail of as much as 144 inches (72 inches benveen the
fee[ and 36 inches oF werhang at each end).
6. Ensure that Live Loads do not
exceed Pu11-Out Capaciries
Based on the characteristics of your roof rafter or truss Lumber
and the lag screws, consul[ Table 4 to determine the lag pull-
out capacity per 1-inch thread depth. Compare that value ro
the minimum design live load per footlng
derertnined in Step 4a or 46. Based on these
values, derermine the length of the lag-screw
thread depth you require to resist the design
live load. To ensure code compliance, the lag
pull-out capacity per foodng must be greater
than the footing design live load.
If your SolazMount requires standoffs, always
use at least two lag screws m secure the
standoff to the rafter.
Figure 2. SalarMOUnt foat spacing refers to the
distance 6enveen fee[ on the same raiL Over-
hang, the distance from end of the rail to the first
foot, may6e no mare than haif thefootspacing.

Page 1
SCOPE
A geotechnical and geological engineering investigation was
conducted on Lot 7, Block 3, Filing 9 of the Legacy Ridge
Subdivision, Westminster, Colorado, to determine the best type
of foundation and basement floor system for the proposed
structure. Recommendations for design and construction based
on soil and groundwater conditions are provided.
Conclusions and recommendations presented are based on results
of a field and laboratory investigation and experience with
similar projects and conditions.
PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION
One single family residence will be constructed on the lot.
The structure will be one story over a crawl space. A wood
frame superstructure will. be supported by a reinforced
concrete foundation.
SITE CONDITIONS
The site is located in a fully-developed subdivision on the
side of a broad, east-west trending ridge. The surface within
this lot slopes gently to the south toward the street: There
is a five to six foot elevation differential between the
street and front of the property. ,
f ~ ~ . . ~ . ~ . .
PROJECT N0. 99-5253. May 27; 1999
. . . . . . Pa9e 2 .
Grading operations may have been conducted to achieve existing
contours, but surface contours do not appear to have been
changed significantly. There is no indication of recent fi11
placement.
The only apparent geologic hazard that may affect the proposed
construction is expansive soil and bedrock. Recommendations
for mitigation of this hazard are presented herein.
SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS
Subsurface conditions were investigated by drilling two
foundation design test holes within the approximate building
envelope. Test hole locations are shown in Figure l; Test
Hole Location Plan.
Test holes were drilled to a depth of 30 feet and samples were
taken at various intervals based on anticipated foundation and
basement floor slab bearing depths and materials encountered.
Lithologic logs and Standard Penetration test results are
shown in Figure 2, Test Hole Logs.
Soil is approximately 13 to 23 feeb thick. Below the soil is
interbedded claystone and sandstone of the Arapahoe Formation.
Detailed soil and bedrock descriptions are presented in the
test hole logs.
Soils consist of slightly sandy to sandy, stiff clays typical
of mixed slope wash and wind-blown deposits. Soils are in
intertonguing lenses, stringers and beds of varied properties
and will vary unpredictably laterally and vertically.

Bedrock underlying the area has been mapped by the U.S.G.S. as
Arapahoe Formation. This formation consists of blocky,
medium-hard to hard claystones with interbedded lenses of
fine-grained sandstone and siltstone. Claystone is the
predominant rock type and was encountered in both test holes:
Swell-consolidation testing conducted on five representative
clay samples from depths of three, six and nine feet indicates
that the clay has moderate to high swell potential. A sample
of clay from TH-1 at six feet swelled 5.7 percent when
saturated under a constant load of 1000 psf_ Three other
samples swelled between 4.6 and 4.9 percent under similar
conditions.
Detailed results of swell-consolidation tests are presented in
Figures 3 through 5.
Groundwater was encountered in TH-1 during the drilling opera-
tions at a depth o£ 29 feet. Water was at depths of 17 and 22
feet in:TH-1 and TH-2, respectively, when holes were checked
four days after drilling.
Groundwater appears to be contained in localized perchedcvater
tables within the bedrock. Due to the geologic and topo-
graphic location of the site, it is unlikely that existing
groundwater will affect the residence after construction.
Shallow`perched water tables may form below the site during
periods of high'precipitation and surface water inflow, i.e.,
spring and early summer. Development will change surface and
subsurface drainage and may cause formation of perched
groundwater tables.

FOLiNDATION DESIGN RECOMMENDATIONS
The structure should be supported by drilled straight shaft
piers designed for a maximum end bearing pressure of 20,000
psf and a maximum side shear.of 2,000 psf. A minimum dead
load of 10,000 pounds should be maintained on all piers.
Piers should be drilled a minimum of 20 feet deep. The use of
small diameter piers and long-grade beam spans is recommended.
Al1 foundation walls should be designed to withstand lateral
pressure from backfill soils. An at-rest equivalent fluid
pressure of 60 pounda per cubic foot (pcf) should be used.
A six-inch void should be constructed below grade beams. Void
' material should be water resistant and placed to prevent
inovement during concrete placement.
Care should be taken to insure no mushrooming is allowed at
the tops of piers. A minimum one-foot section of "sona-tube°
the same diameter as the pier should be installed at each, hole
prior to pouring concrete. Alternative methods may be used if
approved by our representative at the time of, or prsor to,
pier installation.
Groundwater may be encountered during pier drillirig operations
in some holes. Available information indicates placing
concrete immediately after piers are drilled (drill and pour)
should be possible. Concrete should not be placed in piers
with greater than four inches of standing water im the bottom.
Displacing water by pumping concrete from the bottom up may be
possible if excessive water is encountered. Temporary casing
will be required if pier holes are sloughing or caving.
PROJECT N0. 99-5253
May 27, 7999
. . . ~ Pa9e 5 .
DRAIN SYSTEMS
Drain systems should be constructed around basement foundation
perimeters. Drain systems should be constructed in compliance
with details shown in Figure 6, and graded to a sump pit,
either inside or outside the structure. Excess waier should
be removed by an automatic pump.
Particular attention should be given to placing polyethylene
along the bottom of the drain and up the fouridation wall and
to proper grading of drain pipe. Improper grading, such as
high or low spots in the drain pipe, could result in damage to
the foundation and superstructure by over wetting o£
foundation bearing soils.
INTERIOR FLOOR SLAB CONSTRUCTION
Building plans currently do not include below-grade habitable
space (basement area). The following recommendations are
provided in case plans are modified to include a'basement.
The builde.r and/or owner should be aware that concrete floor
slabs placed on expansive bedrock or clay soil may move if
support materials become wet. Construction of a floor system
suspended above the expansive material is a common, means of
helping to assure that slab movement will not occur.
Expansion potential of materials at, and below, basement floor
depth indicates there is a high risk of severe basement slab
movement.

. . . . . . . . . Pa9e 6The following procedures will help improve slab performance,
minimize movement and prevent damage if some risk of movement
can be tol,erated:
1. Subgrade should be prepared based on the soil type
encountered.
Expansive clays should not be compacted more than
necessary during excavation and construction. Clays
should not be allowed to dry excessively. Th,e surf.ace
should be thoroughly wetted 24 hours prior to slab
placement.
Construction of interior perimeter drain systems graded
to a sump within the basement area will also help prevent
slab movement and is recommended if a concrete slab is
used for the basement floor.
2. Concrete slabs should be reinforced with steel mesh and
should be separated from all bearing members and
utilities to a11ow iiidependent movement (i.e., a
"floating slab").
3. Joints should be scored in the slab at maximum 200 square
foot areas.
4. A minimum void space of two inches should be constructed
above or below any nonbearing partition walls. In
finished areas, furring strips, drywall, paneling, etc.
should stop a minimum of two inches above the floor.
5. If hot water heating is used, the piping should not be
placed under the floor slab. If forced-air heating is
used, a flexible connection should be utilized to allow
some movement between the furnace and the heating ducts.
6. Flexible connections should be used on all mechanical
systems placed on floor slabs. All plumbing which
extends below floor slabs should have flexibie
connections and allowance for movement with the slab.
7. Foundation drain systems and landscaping should be
completed in strict compliance with recommendations
outlined herein to help prevent wetting of slab support
soils. '

FOUNDATION BACKFILL
Backfill placed against foundation wa11s should be free of
trash and fragments of rock over six inches in maximum
diameter; moistened and adequately compacted to prevent
excessive-settlement. Walls should be a minimum bf seven days
old prior to backfilling. Walls over four feet high should
have the floor system in place or be well braced prior to
backfilling. Controlled puddling should not be used.
Areas surrounding the foundation should have a positive slope
away from the walls. A one-foot drop in elevation for the
first ten feet away from walls is recommended. The owner
should periodically inspect the surface around the foundation
to locate and correct grading problems which may occur due to ~
normal settlement of foundation backfill.
LAV7N AND LANDSCAPE IRRIGATION
Lawn and landscaping irrigation should be controlled as much
as possible to prevent additional wetting of subsoils.
Automatic sprinkling systems should be placed so that, under
full pressure, spray does not fall within fi6e feet of
foundation walls. Drip or mist irrigation systems should not
be placed within five feet of foundation walls. Installing
any portion of the irrigation system within five feet of walls
should be avoided.
Decorative landscape, such as rock and/or bark should be used
in areas directly adjacent to foundation walls. Shrubbery
planted within five feet of foundation wa11s should be hand
watesed and this watering should be minimized. .
I i . . . . . ' . . . . . . . . . . .
PROJECT NO. 99-5253
May 27, 1999
Page 8 Downspouts and sill cocks should not be allowed to discharge
directly on the ground surface. Splash blocks and/or
downspout extensions should be used to discharge water beyond
foundation backfill where backfill soils are not covered by
pavement and/or sidewalks.
INSPECTION AND CONSULTATION
In any subsurface investigation it is necessary to assume
conditions encountered in the field investigation are
representative of the site. Actual conditions may differ.
Subsurface conditions should be verified through visual
inspection of the foundation excavation by a representative of
this office prior to foundation construction.
Pier drilling operations, rei:nforcing steel placement, and
drain system construction should also be inspected to insure
compliance with these recommendations.
We are available to discuss the contents of this report with
you. Please contact us if you have questions or when further
consultation or inspections are required.
