If the amount of RACM that will be impacted during work exceeds trigger levels, it must be removed by a certified asbestos abatement contractor prior to beginning work. Initial results are generated from a visual estimate by the analyst and could differ with a more accurate analysis known as point counting. Any friable material sample identified as having a trace (equal to or less than 1%) amount of asbestos, must be considered a RACM unless verified by point -counting to be equal to, or less than 1 % and, in fact, a trace material. For materials with a set of multiple samples (i.e. SM with 3, 5, or 7 samples) the asbestos content is whatever the highest result is out of the set; therefore, if one result of a material with multiple samples is trace, but another result of the same material is 3%, then the 3% result supersedes the other results for regulatory and asbestos management purposes. 3.2 Project Results & Recommendations None -Detected Materials with a result of None -Detected have been verified by the laboratory to be free of asbestos fibers. Although those materials are free of asbestos (a known and regulated hazardous air pollutant) other airborne contaminants may still cause adverse health symptoms, both acute and chronic, if one inhales elevated amounts of particles. Vigilance and caution should be used to minimize airborne particulates regardless of the material and if visible or perceived emissions are present one should take action to protect their respiratory health by use of personal protective equipment, or otherwise. Please work safely and if new materials are discovered, which are not covered in this report, contact Advent to have them sampled for asbestos. ADVENT ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTING 720.675.7175 7830 West Alameda Avenue Suite 103 - 216 myteam@advent-enviro.com Lakewood, Colorado 80226 VENT www.advent-enviro.com Environnuncal Connilcing Section 4 - Purpose The purpose of the inspection was to verify the absence or presence of asbestos in the building materials included in the project scope of work which may be disturbed during work activities to determine if asbestos management and notification is required prior to beginning work. The property located at the site address identified in this report was inspected by a building inspector trained by an approved EPA, Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) training organization and certified by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. During inspection, the inspector inspected and assessed suspect building materials, pursuant to the EPA "Green Book," Managing Asbestos in Place, Appendix G (1990), described by the client to be affected during demolition or renovation which would need to be sampled and analyzed for the presence of asbestos prior to commencement of work activities that would break, crack or otherwise damage the material(s) in a manner that could allow asbestos fibers to release from its compound. This inspection was conducted in accordance with applicable EPA National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) 40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M and/or CDHPE Colorado Regulation Number 8 Part B - Asbestos (Reg. 8). Samples were submitted to a laboratory accredited under the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) to be analyzed for the presence of asbestos. The NESHAP standard for asbestos states that the owner or operator of a demolition or renovation activity involving asbestos must remove all such material from a facility being demolished or renovated before any activity begins that would break up, dislodge, or similarly disturb the material, or, preclude access to the material for subsequent removal. Section 5 - Comments & Limitations The inspection of the site address listed at the beginning of this report was limited to only specific materials of the project scope of work as directed by the client. The limitation of the inspection also includes only portions of a material sampled as identified in the location and quantity sections of this report and any material beyond the specified quantity should not be considered adequately sampled to represent the entirety of the material. Additional samples may be needed to represent materials outside of the work scope even if they are included in this report. Quantities listed in this report (Section 1 - Project Snapshot) are approximate quantities of the amount of material that will be included within the scope of work based on information gathered from the client. This approximate quantity is used by the inspector to determine the amount of samples to collect respective to the regulatory requirements outlined in the Identifying Homogenous Areas & Sampling section of the Glossary. Contractors using this report should gather more accurate measurements before drawing conclusions of subsequent work activities. In order to collect samples, various marks, cuts, breaks or other slight damage to materials may be required. In order to prevent damage extending outside of the work scope, samples were collected in client designated areas of remodel/renovation which the client will remove during work activities. This is done so that damage created by the inspection will be removed with the bulk removal in the work scope. Alternatively, samples were collected in inconspicuous, hidden places to avoid unsightly damage. The best possible measures were taken to collect the minimal amount of materials necessary, to get accurate results, in the most inconspicuous places possible; however, no guarantee is made that the conditions exist to prevent visible damage. Friable (F) - materials that can be crumbled or reduced to powder by hand pressure. 2. Category I Non -Friable (NFI) - materials that cannot be crumbled or reduced to powder by hand pressure including resilient floor coverings, gaskets, packing materials and asphalt impregnated roofing materials. 3. Category II Non -Friable (NF) - All other materials that cannot be crumbled or reduced to powder by hand pressure that do not include category I non -friable materials. Material Type AHERA and Reg 8 require building inspectors to categorize the type of suspect building materials into one of three categories: 1. Surfacing Material (SM ) - a material that is sprayed on, troweled on, or otherwise applied to surfaces, such as acoustical plaster in ceilings and fireproofing materials on structural members, or other materials on surfaces for acoustical, fireproofing, or other purposes. 2. Thermal System Insulation (TSI) - a material applied to pipes, fittings, boilers, breeching, tanks, ducts, or other interior structural components to prevent heat loss or gain, or water condensation, or for other purposes. 3. Miscellaneous (MISC) - an interior building material on structural components, structural members or fixtures, such as floor and ceiling tiles, and does not include surfacing material or thermal system insulation. Friability and material type categories for each material inspected are reported with their respective friability and type codes (e.g. F -SM, F -TSI, NFI, etc.). Non -friable category II materials are identified with non -friable code (NF) and the type code for the material (e.g. NF -SM, NF -TSI, NF-MISC). Identifying Homogenous Areas & Sampling Homogenous areas of each material are identified within the work area. Homogenous materials are grouped based on color, texture, and date of application. These materials are then given an approximate quantification of removal or disturbance during work activities to determine the amount of samples to take for each material as defined by AHERA and Reg. 8: 1. Surfacing materials Minimum of 3 random samples for quantities under 1,000 ft2 Minimum of 5 random samples for quantities >1,000 ft2 & <5,000 ft2 Minimum of 7 random samples for quantities >5,000 ft2 2. Thermal system insulation ■ Minimum of 3 random samples for all TSI *except patches <6 linear ft. or 6 ft2 Miscellaneous materials ■ Minimum of 1 sample ADVENT ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTING 720.675.7175 7830 West Alameda Avenue Suite 103 - 216 myteam@advent-enviro.com Lakewood, Colorado 80226 VENT www.advent-enviro.com en,m co,u„ ning APPENDIX A - Laboratory Report 0% e u rof i n s Asbestos Report Summary ti• By: POLARIZING LIGHT MICROSCOPY CEI PROJECT: 7015 West 36th Avenue Wheat Ridge, CO LAB CODE: B18-2901 80033 METHOD: EPA 600 / R93 / 116 and EPA 600 / M4-82 / 020 ASBESTOS Client ID Layer Lab ID Color Sample Description % SM1-1 B20837 White Surface Material None Detected SM1-2 B20838 White Surface Material None Detected SM1-3 B20839 White Surface Material None Detected CT1-1 B20840 White,Brown Ceiling Tile None Detected CTI -2 B20841 White,Brown Ceiling Tile None Detected FTM1-1 --------------------------------------------------------------- Layer 1 Layer 2 B20842 820842 Tan,Brown Gray Tile Mortar None Detected None Detected FTM1-2 B20843 Tan,Brown Tile None Detected MA1-1 B20844 Gray Mortar None Detected MA1-2 --------------------------------------------------------------- Layer 1 Layer 2 820845 B20845 Gray Yellow Mortar Adhesive None Detected None Detected FTM2-1 B20846 Tan Flooring None Detected FTM2-2 B20847 Tan Flooring None Detected FTM3-1 B20848A Tan Flooring None Detected B20848B Yellow Mastic None Detected FTM3-2 B20849A Tan Flooring None Detected B20849B Yellow Mastic None Detected SM2-1 --------------------------------------------------------------- Layer 1 Layer 2 B20850 B20850 White Tan Plaster Skim Coat Plaster Base Coat None Detected None Detected SM2-2 --------------------------------------------------------------- Layer 1 Layer 2 B20851 B20851 White Tan Plaster Skim Coat Plaster Base Coat None Detected None Detected SM2-3 --------------------------------------------------------------- Layer 1 Layer 2 B20852 B20852 White Tan Plaster Skim Coat Plaster Base Coat None Detected None Detected SM3-1 --------------------------------------------------------------- Layer 1 Layer 2 B20853 B20853 White Tan Plaster Skim Coat Plaster Base Coat None Detected None Detected SM3-2 --------------------------------------------------------------- Layer 1 Layer 2 B20854 B20854 White Tan Plaster Skim Coat Plaster Base Coat None Detected None Detected SM3-3 --------------------------------------------------------------- Layer 1 Layer 2 B20855 B20855 White Tan Plaster Skim Coat Plaster Base Coat None Detected None Detected Page 1 of 1 U-1 ■ (J) D rn I -a IAP/NM1pY owmebm"g Code Mcfwwcftwdmx om. /eewrww"vom 1r'190 ' - s[M[ri Mf Opp a M[ al" 5, IW E,19mw Q I O PERMIT NO: JOB ADDRESS: JOB DESCRIPTION: City of Wheat Ridge Residential Roofing PERMIT - 201702714 201702714 7015 W 36th AVE ISSUED: 06/27/2017 EXPIRES: 06/27/2018 Residential Re -roof to install Owens Cor g•asphalt shingles with 15 sq. *** CONTACTS *** OWNER (303)726-0609 ADAMS CAROLE J SUB (303)819-2792 John Theodorakis *** PARCEL INFO *** 'LONE CODE: UA / Unassigned SUBDIVISION CODE: 2405 / BARTHS, COULEHAN GRANGE, *** FEE SUMMARY *** Total Valuation Use Tax Permit Fee ** TOTAL ** *** COMMENTS *** 170198 Lumin Systems USE: WHEAT BLOCK/LOT# ESTIMATED PROJECT VALUATION: FEES 0.00 115.50 140.90 256.40 UA / Unassigned 0 / 5,500.00 i✓111 VLV .7 'r '„' .Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final approval. This agreement may be canceled by LUMIN within 30 days. LIMITED WARRANTY. Lumin General Contractors is not a manufacturer. If any equipment or materials are used or purchased by LUMIN for use on-site, the manufacturers' warranties, if any, of the equipment and materials are provided solely by the manufacturer. LUMIN provides a two-year warranty on LUMIN's workmanship, subject to normal use and conditions and the other terms and conditions set forth herein. The following conditions are unrelated to LUMIN's workmanship and are excluded from warranty coverage: damage caused by settling of the foundation or the premises, fire, misuse, maintenance failures, lightning, windstorm, hailstorm or other weather conditions or casualties. Unless LUMIN's scope of work includes such areas, LUMIN is not responsible for any damage below the roof; liability is limited to the roof repair only. LUMIN is not responsible for damage caused by improper original construction, faulty framing, wiring, plumbing, masonry, drywall cracks, bracing, roof decks or pre-existing conditions. LUMIN is not responsible for decayed siding, paint and sheetrock damage caused by vibration or otherwise. LUMIN is not responsible for damaged electrical cable, air conditioning or plumbing lines which are installed within six (6) inches of the roofline. LUMIN is not responsible for any structural movement, settling, vibrations, cracks in drywall or driveway due to the roofing or loading process. During the normal course of work, it is possible that dust and dirt may infiltrate into the attic space during installation or removal of roofing tiles, particularly slate and underlying felt. LUMIN will not be responsible for clean-up of attic space or any other interior areas. It is the responsibility of the property owner to notify LUMIN if the premises contain exposed decking such as cathedral ceilings so that proper length nails can be used. LUMIN's limited warranty for roof work is conditioned upon the property owner's performance of general roof maintenance, including the matters set forth herein. Please be advised that the accumulation of leaves or pine needles in gutters or roof valley produce what is commonly referred to as "water dam," which can force water under the roofing and produce leaks through the roof structure. These leaks can travel along roof joints, etc. and produce interior damage at points far distant from the leak. Water dams and ice dams are the responsibility of the property owner to prevent. Adequate ventilation is necessary to keep attic temperature close to outside temperature, helping to prevent the deck delamination at the roof and the formation of ice dams in gutters and valleys. Adequate ventilation is essential to the life of asphalt shingles. Inadequate ventilation may result in moisture condensation and can cause rotting of the wood deck and/or blistering or curling of asphalt shingles, which is not a defect in the shingle, but is a direct result of moisture being drawn through the shingle by the sun. Installation or relocation of antennae or other equipment on the roof may cause leaks unless proper sealants are used at any point where screws or other anchoring devices enter the roof. Avoid all unnecessary roof traffic, particularly on concrete tiles, as it can damage tiles and greatly diminish the life of the roof. Leaking can occur in or around the chimney, unless it is periodically tuck -pointed. The flashing compounds around the chimney and vent pipe areas require normal maintenance on an annual basis. These areas should be inspected periodically for cracking or indication of weathering and must be reflashed accordingly. SB12-38: 1. LUMIN does not claim to be or act as a public insu rance adjuster adjusting claims for losses or damages. 2. In accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S.) Section 6-22-105, LUMIN may not pay, waive, or rebate, or promise to pay, waiver or rebate, all or pa rt of your insurance deductible. 3. Pursuant to C.R.S. Section 6-22-104, you may rescind this contract within 72 hours following your receipt of notice from the insurance company that your claim has been denied in whole or in part, unless the denial was related to a request for supplemental roofing services if the damage requiring the supplemental roofing services could not have been reasonably foreseen as a necessary and related roofing service at the time of the initial roofing inspection by LUMIN or the execution of this contract. 4. LUMIN shall hold your payments in trust until the delivery of roofing materials to your site or until LUMIN has performed a majority of the roofing work described in this contract. i CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE ' Building Inspection Division 303 234-5933 Inspection line (303) 235-2855 Office • (303) 237-8929 Fax INSPECTION NOTICE Inspection Type: fiq r--6 Job Address: -7015 Gy atm Permit Number: 00j -%O c7; 7/e-1 ❑ No one available for inspection: Time /C-," (' A/M Re -Inspection required: Yes /rNo When corrections have been made, call for re -inspection at 303-234- _5933 Date: Inspector: DO NOT REMOVE THIS NOTICE 41 f (30 Inspection Type: Job Address: Permit Number: ❑ No one available for inspection: Time !U AM YPM Re -Inspection required: Yes No When corrections have been made, call for re -inspection at 303-234-5933 Date: y .. Inspector: w6 m DO NOT REMOVE THIS NOTICE Q> A i CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE _:9Building Inspection Division (303) 234-5933 Inspection line (303) 235.2855 Office • (303) 237-8929 Fax INSPECTION NOTICE Inspection Type: Ml Job Address: '?Q15 LJ 36 / v Permit Number: d G/ Cad ? The project consists of seven (7) PV panels arranged in rows of three (3) and four (4) on the south face of the roof. I hereby approve of the structural design of this project as demonstrated on the plans. The governing codes for this project per the City of Wheat Ridge shall be the 2012 International codes, specifically 2012 International Residential Code. The site is the City of Centennial, so the basic 3 second wind gust speed is 105mph per the City of Wheat Ridge's Design Criteria for Structures, and a worst case exposure class of "C" is assumed in analysis but the site residential class "B" is the best fit. The roof snow load is 30lbs/sf. I have reviewed and approve of the existing roof structure of the house capable of withstanding the new dead load contribution of the solar panels and all applicable load combinations as specified in IBC and IRC. The anchoring system to the roof is sufficient to withstand the uplift / pull out forces on the attachment to roof. The span of the rails is sufficient to resist the design snow load with a maximum span of 4%0". The corner zones are properly reinforced, splices are correctly positioned away from mid span, and proper flashed mounts with 2.25" fastener insertion depth shall be installed. Thank you very much and do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of further service. When installed per the conditions and design criteria described herein, the CrossRail Solar PV Mounting System is compliant with the sections of the design reference documents noted below. Design Reference Documents o 2009 International Building Code, as amended 0 2009 International Residential Code, as amended o ASCE/SEI 7-05 -Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures 0 2010 Aluminum Design Manual, by the Aluminum Association o Section and materials data provided by Everest Solar Systems ■ Rail section properties appear in Table 25 of this report Overview The CrossRail PV -panel roof mounting system consists of extruded aluminum support rails, module clamps, attachments, and fasteners spanning between points of attachment on an existing roof structure. Attachment of the CrossRail Mounting System to the existing roof structure shall be the responsibility of the installer, and should be analyzed by a registered design professional where required by the local authority having jurisdiction. Methods & Design Parameters Applicable combinations of dead, wind, and snow loads were evaluated in accordance with current code requirements to determine allowable rail span lengths, based on assumptions of single -span conditions and allowable deflection of L/120. Design wind pressures were determined using Components and Cladding calculations in Chapter 6 of ASCE 7-05, using the loading parameters listed below. Configurations not conforming to these parameters will require additional analysis. Calculation of applicable roof snow load should be based upon ground snow load maps and equations and factors of ASCE 7-05, Chapter 7 and IYIOIIlentSTRUCTURAL ENGINEERING GROUP, LLC. 10530 Warwick Ave, Suite C5 0 Fairfax, VA 22030 0 Phone: 703-998-23500 Web: www.mseglic.com OR to Vcj1 L w Ln V1 Of a 0 Ln V) W cr W W N Z _0 H M J 0 0 0 J _Q Z W N W W H tA N _J Q cc Ln Ln 0 cru 240 UAC HEAVY-DUTY, FUSIBLE, SINGLE THROW Specifications ✓ 30 — 1200 amperes ✓ Horsepower rated ✓ Suitable for service entrance use, except 4 -pole switches. ✓ UL listed File No. E5239. 6-12 EATON CORPORATION Cutler -Hammer Retail Solutions Book 1.877.932-9322 -- Disconnects - Effective August 2005 TABLE 6-18. A utility -interactive inverter(s) that has a wire harness or cable output circuit rated 240 V, 30 amperes, or less, that is not installed within an enclosed raceway, shall be provided with listed ac AFCI protection. This requires exposed AC cable systems, such as the Enphase Engage Cable, to be protected by AC Arc -Fault Circuit Interrupter (AC AFCI) protection devices in the AC panel. Since Enphase Microinverters are utility -interactive inverters that backfeed into the electrical service through the overcurrent protection device, any overcurrent protection devices with AC AFCI that are installed must be specifically backfeed capable. NEC 2014 705.12 (D) (4) Suitable for Backfeed. Circuit breakers, if backfed, shall be suitable for such operation. If terminals of circuit -breaker AFCIs are marked "Line" and "Load," then the product is not backfeed capable. Today there are no known AC AFCI backfeed capable products in existence or planned, so Section 90.4 of the NEC code advises the inspector / AHJ to grant permission to use products that comply with the most recent previous edition of the Code. Until AC AFCI backfeed capable product is available, complying with NEC 2014 Section 705.12 (D) (6) is achieved by discretionary guidance per NEC 2014 Section 90.4 and referring to NEC 2011 Section 705.12, where AC Arc -Fault Circuit Protection is not a requirement for utility -interactive inverters. Code Reference 90.4 Enforcement. This Code may require new products, constructions, or materials that may not vet be available at the time the Code is adopted. In such event, the authority having jurisdiction may permit the use of the products, constructions, or materials that comply with the most recent previous edition of this Code adopted by the jurisdiction. NEC 2014 Section 690.11 DC Arc -Fault Circuit Protection This requirement is for direct current (DC) Arc -Fault Circuit protection, and only applies to systems with DC voltages above 80 VDC. Enphase Microinverter systems are exempted from this requirement as they always operate well below 80 VDC. The requirement is basically unchanged from the NEC 2011, and it is unnecessary to add DC AFCI to an Enphase Microinverter System installation. Code Referenc, 690.11 Arc -Fault Circuit Protection (Direct Current). Photovoltaic systems with do source circuits, do output circuits, or both, operating at a PV system maximum system voltage of 80 volts or greater, shall be protected by a listed (dc) arc -fault circuit interrupter, PV type, or other system components listed to provide equivalent protection. © 2014 Enphase Energy Inc. The site is the City of Centennial, so the basic 3 second wind gust speed is 105mph per the City of Wheat Ridge's Design Criteria for Structures, and a worst case exposure class of "C" is assumed in analysis but the site residential class `B" is the best fit. The span of the rails is sufficient to resist the design snow load with a maximum span of 4'-0". The corner zones are properly reinforced, splices are correctly positioned away from mid span, and proper flashed mounts with 2.25" fastener insertion depth shall be installed. Thank you very much and do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of further service. Regards, ( p0 11C F Dan King, P.E. o o NO Reno James Engineering v:¢ z•. • O 38 10NIM. For designated Case Study areas noted in the 2009 International Building Code, as amended, refer to local jurisdiction requirements for snow and wind load determination. Seismic criteria were not considered per provisions of ASCE 7-05 Section 13.1.4. Loading Parameters: o Ground snow load: Varies o Design 3 -second gust wind speed (V) = 85-150 mph o Building roof mean height: 30 ft or less o Roof wind pressure region: 'Lone 1- Zone 3 o Structural occupancy category: 11 o Wind exposure: B, C, D o Panel orientation: Portrait or Landscape o Panel installation angle: Flush with roof slope o Roof slope (6): Varies Design Results The allowable span lengths of the system are principally controlled by applicable wind (speed, exposure, pressure zone) and snow loads to the structure. Refer to the CrossRail span tables in the appendix to this document for recommended rail configurations based on combinations of these loading parameters. The reaction loads provided in the attached tables are only applicable when used with the span length recommendations provided herein. Installation Notes The following guidelines apply to all installations using the CrossRail product line: • Tables assume two independent support rails per panel with portrait orientation, or shared intermediate rails with panels in landscape orientation. • Maximum end cantilever of aluminum support rail shall not exceed one-third (1/3) of allowable span in the roof wind pressure zone of the cantilever • Rails shall be continuous (not spliced) over a minimum of two supports • Installations over roof overhangs or within 10" of any roof edge is not advised • Observe all local jurisdictional requirements regarding roof setback requirements momentSTRUCPURAL ENGINEERING GROUP, LLC. 10530 Warwick Ave, Suite C5 0 Fairfax, VA 22030 0 Phone: 703-988-23500 Web: www.mseglic.com CR130904CO9:19 Sept 4, 2013 Everest Solar Systems, LLC moment 3809 Ocean Ranch Blvd, Suite 111 STRUCTURAL Oceanside, CA 92056_ ` GROUAttn: Andy Neshat RE: CrossRail PV Panel Mounting System Evaluation To whom it may concern: Per your request, Moment Structural Engineering Group has performed a comprehensive structural analysis of the Everest Solar CrossRail Solar PV Mounting System for typical installations in the State of Colorado. When installed per the conditions and design criteria described herein, the CrossRail Solar PV Mounting System is compliant with the sections of the design reference documents noted below. Design Reference Documents o 2009 International Building Code, as amended o 2009 International Residential Code, as amended o ASCE/SEI 7-05 -Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures 0 2010 Aluminum Design Manual, by the Aluminum Association o Section and materials data provided by Everest Solar Systems ■ Rail section properties appear in Table 25 of this report Overview The CrossRail PV -panel roof mounting system consists of extruded aluminum support rails, module clamps, attachments, and fasteners spanning between points of attachment on an existing roof structure. Calculation of applicable roof snow load should be based upon ground snow load maps and equations and factors of ASCE 7-05, Chapter 7 and momelltSTRUCTURAL ENGINEERING GROUP, LLC. 10530 Warwick Ave, Suite C5 0 Fairfax, VA 22030 0 Phone: 703-998-23509 Web: www.msegllc.com NEI r r r r ,I c ;g O n o ro 3 O ^ _ O v a O rp C v O C:lu o E 2 O 2 !n N p v c ^ o O C O ci .a o g E > ca 7 OU N u U c ci N j- 5 0 C U E s o 0 z o r r r r r 4 8 3 O Q ^ N L Q1 p d yarnVf Jz- ' C ` H d dl 70 U - a a c -o 0 a C C Ci Q 41 0) - 0 O a `, Q " r y n c U O Q V Y O a Q p N O 0 v N c E 00 Ol` E C O n O O m 0 C ijj a. dam' . Measure AC at the Electricity Network Connection 2 Install the AC Branch Circuit Junction Box 3. Position the Enphase Engage Cable 4. Attach the Microinverters to the Mounting Rail 5. Dress the Enphase Engage Cable 6. Terminate the Unused End 7. Connect the Engage Cable to AC Junction Box(es) 8. Verification and Commissioning Risk of Electrical Shock. Due to presence of exposed conductors, DO NOT connect the Enphase Microinverters to the electricity network or energize the main AC circuit(s) until you complete all of the installation procedures as described in the following sections. Step 1 — Measure AC at the Electricity Network Connection Measure the AC line voltage at the electricity network connection to confirm that it is within range. Acceptable ranges are shown in the following table. 10 Single -Phase Service I Three -Phase Service L1 to neutral 207 to 253 Vac I L1 to L2 to L3 I 360 to 440 Vac L1, L2, L3 to neutral I 207 to 253 Vac NOTE: Be sure the Engage Cable you are using matches the electricity network connection at the site. Use 5G2.5 Engage Cable at sites with three-phase (and neutral) service. or use 3G2.5 Engage Cable at sites with single-phase service. Check the labelling on the drop connectors to verify the voltage type. NOTE: Enphase microinverters are designed to operate phase -to -neutral. When multiple phases are present at sites with single-phase service, connect only one phase to each microinverter branch. Connecting multiple phases to a microinverter branch circuit will damage or destroy the microinverters. Since Enphase Microinverters are utility- interactive inverters that backfeed into the electrical service through the overcurrent protection device, any overcurrent protection devices with AC AFCI that are installed must be specifically backfeed capable. NEC 2014 705.12 (D) (4) Suitable for Backfeed. Circuit breakers, if backfed, shall be suitable for such operation. If terminals of circuit -breaker AFCls are marked "Line" and "Load," then the product is not backfeed capable. In such event, the authority having iurisdiction may permit the use of the products, constructions, or materials that comDly with the most recent previous edition of this Code adopted by the jurisdiction. Code Reference 690.11 Arc -Fault Circuit Protection (Direct Current). Photovoltaic systems with do source circuits, do output circuits, or both, operating at a PV system maximum system voltage of 80 volts or greater, shall be protected by a listed (dc) arc -fault circuit interrupter, PV type, or other system components listed to provide equivalent protection. March 2014 NEC 2014 — Enphase System Code Compliance Overview This technical brief discusses new NEC 2014 requirements that apply to Enphase Microinverter Systems. It is useful for installers, electricians, and electrical inspectors or authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) for understanding how code -compliance is handled where NEC 2014 is adopted. Main topics discussed in this document are: • NEC 2014 Section 690.12 Rapid Shutdown of PV Systems on Buildings • NEC 2014 Section 705.12 Point of Connection • NEC 2014 Section 690.11 DC Arc -Fault Circuit Protection NEC 2014 Section 690.12 Rapid Shutdown of PV Systems on Buildings Enphase Microinverter Systems fully meet this rapid shutdown requirement, without the need to install additional electrical equipment. Properly labeling the PV system power source and rapid shutdown ability is required per NEC Section 690.56 (B) and (C). Solar electric PV systems with Enphase Microinverters have one utility -interactive inverter directly underneath each solar module, converting low voltage DC to utility grid -compliant AC. When the utility grid is available and the sun is shining, each microinverter verifies that the utility grid is operating within the IEEE 1547 requirements. Only then does it export AC power into the electric service for use by loads onsite or export power to the utility grid for others to use. When the utility grid has a failure, or the PV system AC circuits are disconnected from the utility service via an AC breaker, AC disconnect or removal of the solar or main utility service meter, the microinverters stop producing AC power in fewer than six AC cycles. Enphase Microinverters are not capable of operating as an AC voltage source. This means that without an AC utility source, Enphase Microinverters are not able to energize connected wiring and no AC voltage or current can be injected into the PV system AC circuits or the grid. When the AC utility source is removed from the PV system AC circuits via any means, such as an AC breaker, AC disconnect, or removal of the solar or main utility service meter, this equipment performs the rapid shutdown function per 690.12. With an Enphase Microinverter System this shutdown occurs well within the 690.12 required 10 seconds, and there are no other conductors energized more than 1.5 m (5 ft) in length inside a building or more than 3 m (10 ft) from a PV array. Code Reference 690.12 Rapid Shutdown of PV Systems on Buildings. PV system circuits installed on or in buildings shall include a rapid shutdown function that controls specific conductors in accordance with 690.12(1) through (5) as follows. (1) Requirements for controlled conductors shall apply only to PV system conductors of more than 1.5 m (5 ft) in length inside a building, or more than 3 m (10 ft) from a PV array. (2) Controlled conductors shall be limited to not more than 30 volts and 240 volt-amperes within 10 seconds of rapid shutdown initiation. (3) Voltage and power shall be measured between any two conductors and between any conductor and ground. (4) The rapid shutdown initiation methods shall be labeled in accordance with 690.56(B). (5) Equipment that performs the rapid shutdown shall be listed and identified. © 2014 Enphase Energy Inc. All rights reserved.
