Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) is required on the entire roof when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Sheathing and mid -roofs may be called in at the same time, one hundred percent of the sheathing must be complete and 25-75 percent of the mid -roof may be complete. Asphalt shingles are required to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer installation instructions, whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection of elastomeric or similar type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the manufacturer technical representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project address) has been applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof material brand name) roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final inspection. Soil - Exposed in Excavations: Upper level - Clay, sandy. stiff to very stiff, medium moist. dark ' -own (CL) Lower level - Clay. very sandy, slightly silty, medium stiff. moist to very moist, brown (CL) Foundation Recommendations: The upper level of the c:ouble should be founded on narrow spread footings designed for a maximum soil bearing pressure of 2,000 psi and a mirumum dead-load pressure of 800 ps:. If desired, footings may be eliminated and the dour cation walls placed directly on the soils. All loose, disturbed soil should be removed before placing walls. A polyethelene moisture barrier should be provided around all exterior foundation walls as detailed on Figure 1, attached. The lower level of the double should be founded on spread footings designed for a maximum s, it bearing pressure of 1,000 psf (dead-lead plus 1/2 Vve-load). Conventional spread footings will be satisfactory. All loose, disturbed soil should be removed before placing footings. Foundation walls should be rein",srced with a minimum of two N5 bars, continuous at the top and bottom, at maximum vertical spacing - 4 bars total. Slabs should be placed directly on the undisturbed soils or compacted fill (no Rravel) and should be separated from all bearing members and utility l..ies. Joints snould be scoA ed in slabs to control the location of any cracking (maximum 200 square toot areas). Pr,,vi..e a minimum 2 inch void space above, or below. partitions on slabs. Packfill around the foundation should be moistened and compacted and the final grade should be well sloped. Downspout., and sill cocks should discharge into splash blocks.
