Late Wednesday afternoon, Alan called me about a sight obstruction caused by a newly constructed fence, near the Conoco at 38th Avenue/Wadsworth. There are actually two new fences. One runs between 3790 Wadsworth (Conoco) and 3700 Wadsworth, and one runs between 3700 Wadsworth and 3660 Wadsworth. I spoke with the manager of Conoco and the business owner of 3660 Wadsworth. They each said that they were approached by Alfredo Acevedo, who said that he is connected with the owner of 3700 Wadsworth. Acevedo offered to separate each property by building a fence. He built them without obtaining a permit, and at least one is in violation of our sight obstruction regulations. I phoned Acevedo (970) 645-5530, who lives in Grand Junction. I gave him until 10AM on Friday to come to the Building Department to apply for permits for both fences. I told him that by Friday, 10AM, he must remove the first 10 feet of the 6 foot wood fence that runs between 3700 and 3660 Wadsworth, since it is a sight obstruction. I told him that if he did not do the above, he would be issued a summons, and charged for each following day that the properties are in violation.
