The existing east -west wall between the Kitchen and Living Room is supporting roof loads from struts from the roof purlins and from the ridge board. The existing north -south ceiling beams in the Living Room and Kitchen are supporting only the ceiling joists. The existing ceiling beam in the Living Room can be replaced with 3-9.5° LVL's that will now span approximately 17 ft. and be placed above the ceiling joists and bear on a new east -west beam between the Kitchen and Living Room. The existing ceiling beam in the Kitchen can be reused and placed above the ceiling joists and bear on this same east -west beam. These two beams will now replace the existing dropped beams and now will be above the ceiling joists and will need two TS9 straps to hold each of the ceiling joists. The two purlins over the Living Room will need a 2x4 strut placed at 6ft. apart along the beam and have a 2x4 be between them (two pairs of struts and ties). The east -west beam that will replace the bearing wall and will now carry the ends of the north - south Living ,Room and Kitchen beams can be 3-11.875° LVL's that will span from the west to east exterior walls. This beam will need to be placed with its top edge flush with the top of the ceiling joists with the remainder hanging down below the lower surface of the ceiling.
