Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) requires an approved inspection
prior to installation of ANY roof coverings and is require on the entire roof when spaced
or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding k/2-inch exists. Asphalt shingles are required to
be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield is
required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave
and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation
is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer&Oms installation
instructions, whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection of
elastomeric or similar type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the
manufacturer's technical representative stating that "the application of the roof at
(project address) has been applied in accordance with the installation instruction for
(roof material brand name) roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final
inspection.

requirements, fees andprocedures for approval of any new permit. Re -issuance or extension of expired permits is at the sole discretion of
the Chief Building Official and is not guaranteed.

5. The permit holder shall notify the Building and Inspection Services Division in accordance with established policy of all required
inspections and shall not proceed or conceal work without written approval of such work from the Building and Inspection Services
Division.

1. The completion and approval of final inspecaons and any necessary correcrions of electrical,
plumbing, mechanical and framing systems. Inspections aze performed by the Building Division.

U rjfinal drainage report and plan, if such report and plan is applicable. For all residential and
nohtes?dential projects with an approved final drainage report and plan, a letter of ceRification is
required from the projects civil engineer of record. Inspection aze performed by the Public
W'orks Deparmlent.
3. The completion and acceptance by the City of Wheat Ridge of all required public
improvemenu, or a Development Covenant mac be processed in lieu of construction said
improvemenu. The Public Works Depamnent performs these inspections or provides the
Development Covenant.
4. 'Ihe comple[ion of all required landscaping and related site unprovements. [nspecuons
are performed bv the Planning and Zonijig Division.
All the above items must be completed and signed off by Planning and Zoning, Building and Public
Works be(ore a Certificate of Occupancy is issued. Final Inspecnon by the Building Division does not
constitute authorization of a Certificate of Occupancy nor permission for occupancy. Occupancy of the
structure is not permitted until the Certificate of Occupancy is issued. (Uniform Building Code,

As requested, Hollingsworth Associates, Inc. performed a subsurface study for the addition planned
at 3230 Vance Street, Wheat Ridge, Colorado. The study was conducted in accordance wi[h our
verbal proposal to you.
Proposed Consfruction: The proposed addition will be a singie story to the rear of the existing home.
Foundation loads are expected to be light as is typical for this type of construction. If the design
varics from the project descrip[ion above, the recommenda[ions presented'vt this report should be re-
evaluated.
Site Conditions At the time of our field investigation, the site of the addition was covered with a
grass covering. The oround surface was relatively flat.
Subsoil Conditions: In oeneral, the subsoil conditionsencountered in the exploratory boring consisted
ol 1 foot of topsoil overlying medium stiff very clayey sand for the depth drilled, 11 feet. No free
water was encountered in expioratory boring B-1 at the time of drilling. The gradations of typical
samples of the soils are presented on Fig. 3. The loca[ion of the exploratory Uoring is shown on Fia.

The design and construction criteria presented below should be obseived fQr ectdocumentsg

foundationsystem. TheconstructiondetailsshouldbeconsideredwhenpreparinaPoJ
(1) Footings placed on the undistuibed natural soils should be designed for an allowable soil
bearing pressure of 2,000 psf.
(2) Based on experience, we estimate total settlement for footings designed and constiucted as
discussed in this section will be approximately 1- inches. Differential settlement across the
addition is estimated to be apptoximately 1/7-inch.
(3) Exterior footings and footings beneath unheated areas should be provided with adequate soil
cover above their beazing elevation for frost protection. Placement of foundations at least 30
inches below the exterior grade is typically used in this azea.
(4) Continuous foundation walls should be reinforced top and bottom to span an unsuppoited
length of at least 10 feet.
A representative of the soIl engineer should observe all footing excavations prior to concrete
placement.
Surfacge: The following drainage precautions should be observed during construction and
maintained at all times after the addition has been completed.
(1) Excessive wetting or drying of the foundation excavations should be avoided during
consttuction.
(2) Exterior backfll should be adjusted tc, near optimum moisture content and compacted to at
eas and 90% of the
least 95% of the maacimum standazd Proctor density in pavement ar
maximum standard Proctor density in landscaped areas.
(3) The ground surface surrounding the exterior of the addition should be sloped to dcain away
from the foundation in all directions. We recommended a minimum slope of 6 inches in the
first 10 feet in unpaved azeas and a minimum slope of 3 inches in the first 10 feet in paved
areas.

(4) Roof downspouts and drains should discharge well beyond the limits of all backfill.
Limitations: This report has been prepared in accordance with generally accepted soil and foundation
engineering practices in this area for use by the client for design purposes. The conclusions and
recommendations submitted in this report are based upon the data obtained from the exploratory
boring and [he proposed type of construction. The nature and extent of subsurface variations across
the site may not become evident until excavation is performed. If, during construction, fill, soil, rock,
or water conditions appear to be different from those described herein, this office should be advised
at once so reevaluation of the recommendations may be made. We recommend on-site observation
of excavations and foundation bearing strata by a representative of the soil engineer.

REWARD Wali System forms are used for beivw grade

Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) requires an approved inspection
prior to installation of ANY roof coverings and is require on the entire roof when spaced
or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding k/2 -inch exists. Asphalt shingles are required to
be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield is
required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave
and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation
is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer&4Erms installation
instructions, whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection of
elastomeric or similar type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the
manufacturer's technical representative stating that "the application of the roof at
(project address) has been applied in accordance with the installation instruction for
(roof material brand name) roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final
inspection.
