One sample was 11 gauge galvanized, one 11 gauge aluminum, and two 12 gauge stainless steel. The base plate dimensions were 2 % inches long by 3 % inches wide with a % inch diameter punched nut. The base plates were anchored into a Grade #2 2x6 Douglas Fir with two 5/16 inch standard construction lag bolts. The 1/4 inch diameter pilot holes were drilled to a depth of 3 inches. The lag bolts were secured hand tight. The 318 inch -16 pem insert was inserted into each base plate punched nut and secured hand tight. The other side of the pem insert was fitted with a threaded bar and secured to our Tinius Olsen machine with a Grade 8 washer and nut. The base plates were tested in our Tinius Olsen 120,000 pound universal machine (calibrated August 2008). The base plates were inserted through the universal machine and loaded in tension and tested to failure. The required ultimate load is 2000 lbs. The ultimate loads are presented in Table 1.
