RE: Installation of the fire alarm system at Compass Montessori School, 10351 W 44`h Ave.
The following are our plan review comments;
1) When a fire alann system is required by this code, one type of each alarm activating device
shall be provided on site as a spare. UFC 91 14.103(c). Amended.
2) Fire alarm evacuation signals shall be subject to field inspection additional units may be.
required. UFC 91 14.103(d).
3) A satisfactory test of the entire system sha11 be made in the presence of the Fire Marshal.
All system functions shall be tested. UFC 91 14.103(d).
4) The permittee shall provide written certification to the Fire Mazshal that the system has
been installed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications. UFC 91
14.103(e).
5) Fire alazm systems required by this code shall be supervised by an approved central,
proprietary, or remote station service or local alazm which will give an audible signal at a
constandy attended station. UFC 91 14.105' Amended..
6) Remote indicating devices shall be provided on all required duct detectors, elevators and
electrical panel rooms and where detection device activation is not readily visible to
responding fire fighters. UFC 91 (b). Amended.
7) Any code requirements arising from installation.
8) Twenty-four hours notice required for all tests and inspections.

RE: Remodel and occupancy use change for Compass Montessori
School, 10351 W 44th Ave.
The following are our plan review comments;
1) Group E occupancies shall be provided with an approved
manual and automatic fire alarm system and shall be supervised by
an approved central station supervisor. Submit three (3) sets of
plans for review for comment prior to work commencing. UFC 94
1007.2.4.1
2) An alarm-signaling device shall be mounted on the exterior
of the building. UBC 94 305.9.
3) Emergency lighting shall be provided and is subject to field
inspection. UFC 94 12111.1.
4) Exit lights are subject to field inspection and shall be
installed when two or more exits are required from a room or
area. UFC 94 1212.1.
5) Exit doors shall swinq in the direction of exit travel when
serving an occupant load of 50 or more. (Change exit swing in C
Classroom 102). UFC 94 1207.2.
6) Exit doors from rooms having an occupant load of 50 or more
and from corridors shall not be provided with a latch or lock
unless it is panic hardware. UBC 94 1017.11.
7) A Knox Box Key box sha11 be provided on the building and
contain keys to gain access shall be maintained at all times on a
building containing a required fire alarm system. UFC 904.4
8) Fire extinguishers shall be a 4-A rated 10-1b ABC dry
chemical type. The required number of extinguishers and mounting
information sha11 be provided prior to final inspection. UFC 94
1002.1.
9) Carpeting shall be a minimum of a Class II Critical Radiant
Flux. Documentation shall be provided prior to installation.
UFC 94 Appendix IV-A.
10) Wall coverings other than paint are to meet the requirements
of UBC Chapter 8, documentation to be provided prior to
installation.
11) All drapes, hangings, curtains, drops and other decorative
material that would tend to increase the fire and panic hazard
shall be made of material which is not flammable or shall be
treated and maintained in a flame-retardant solution or process
approved by the Fire Marshal. UFC 94 2501.5.
12) Trash enclosures including doors shall be of non-combustible
construction. UFC 94 1103.2.2 (Amended).
13) Any code requirements arising from construction.
14) Twenty-four hours notice required for all tests and
inspections.
