So the overall height of the privacy wall on that side will need to be brought down to 6'. It looks like you might be able to achieve this by taking a few of the wood slates out. If you want to keep your final Building inspection appointment, that might be fine. I'm not sure what things they're checking for. I discussed this with the planners who gave the following information when the plans were approved and stamped. The code is that decks need to be set back 5 feet from the property line. They may encroach 6 up to 1/3 of that distance, resulting in a minimum distance of 40 inches from the property line. The deck is more than 40 inches from the property line - it is 44 1/2 inches from the property line. See the attached picture of the approved plans and measurement.
