A aECEIvEc FE$ 2 w, 2000 I n 0s`3 CC: Ken Fenwick, Crreg Knudson, Robert Goebel, Darin Morgan, Meredith Reckert, David Neb I need your help in resolving the issues identified in Crreg Knudson's letter dated December 17, 1999 (see attached). The Wheat Ridge drainage depaitment has employed me to speak on their behalf to resolve the concems identified in their letter. "Che two major concerns expressed to me are: 1. The two detention ponds with trench drains (5X25X6 deep) located on the east and west sides of lot 3 that were constructed in June 1998 have inadvertenUy been covered over by the preliminary excavarion work performed by your subcontractor. I believe this action occurred sometime after these ponds were viewed and inspected by the Wheat Ridge drainage depattuient in 1998 and their most recent visit in late 1999. The drainage department now contends that the ponds don't exist and were not constructed in conformance with the approved drainage report. Therefore, a CO will not be issued. The excavator, the rock supplier, the lot 2 homeowners, the workmen, Ken Fenwick, you, I and others can attest to the existence of the ponds on lot 3 as per the approved drainage report. In fact, an additional retention pond (5X25X6 deep) was constructed on the northwest side of lot 2 to enhance and supplement the incremental surface water that was being pumped from your construction site into the southwest retention pond on lot 3. I have attached a copy of the approved drainage report as a reference to the grading required in bringing the existing retention ponds into compliance. During final grading of your lot 3, please have your excavator grade the retention ponds to the satisfaction of Ken Fenwick and the drainage departsnent. Sorry for any delays and disruption this issue may cause your project. 2. The second issue is the mechanical sump pump currently located three feet below the surface of the lot 3, southwest located retention pond. It must be removed in order to be in compliance with the approved drainage report. Thank you again for your assistance in this addirional matter. Or:ce tl:ese twe matters hava been resolved, Ken Fenwick can re-certify the approved drainage report and plan. In addition, the lots with new construction immediately to the east of us where designed by the ciry to drain east but currently draui west due to the initial grading of these lots. Hopefully, final grading will alleviate this drainage issue. This fact may be contributing to an increase in surface and ground waters on our lots and the drainage department has requested that the effecUveness of the detention ponds to percolate flows into the ground in relation to the altered growid water table caused by the new construction to the east be evaluated. I appreciate your efforts to resolve these matters. If you have any questions, please call Greg Knudson. it! c: i ~.1. i.3 •s• {Si ...i p.r. d 0 ♦ ~ ~ ~ `V ~ o b ~ a tc n x Z OA ~ O A ~ W C O ~ O ~ ~ z a z n m z ~ V p r~ c: d
