The main residential structure is located north of and adjacent to the carport. The carport structure appeazs sound. The floor is a flat concrete slab. The concrete slab is placed directly above footings at the column locations. The slab has three or four existing cracks which appear to have occurred over the lifetime of the slab. These cracks are not major and there is little or no level differential at the cracks nor over the slab azea. The following is a list of items which when followed will insure satisfaction of the completed project. . Carpet or other resilient floor cover should be used to minimize the effect of crack movement. . Wall studs should be cut so that a gap of approximately 1/2 to 3/4" will occur at the top of the new walls to prevent load bearing on these walls and retain the structural integrity of the existing structure. Finish details at the top of the wall should be used that will allow for small movements of the slab. . Excessive watering of vegetation adjacent to the slab could cause settlement or freeze/thaw damage and should be avoided. • Roof drainage from carport or existing residence should be routed to discharge a minimum of five feet from the building. Darlinger SUBJECT: 7304 W. 48th Ave APPROVED: DATE:_ At your reguest, I went by 7304 W. 48th Ave and inspected t_he feric- as indicated on the report from Code Enforcement OYfi_cer Siisan E11Ls. It is my opinion, from a traffic safety perspective, that the exiscing fence does not pose any safety hazard for W.48th Ave traffic. T}1-? vehicles exiting the private driveways at 7305 W.48th Ave. and 7350 W.48th Ave. have adequate room to safely enter r_he roadway. I based this opinion of the fact that the fer.ce i_s ser back from the paved portion of the roadway nine feet on one end and ten feet five inches on the other. The only safety factor I saw was low hanginq branches on trees in :`ront of 7350 W. 48th Ave., which limit the sight d:stance, when leaving the driveways.
