I am doing all the work by myself. I honestly didn't even try to get started after the permit was extended last October. The weather set in quickly, and really didn't let up until recently. I need to apply decking as well as roofing materials. I want to be careful and safe first, and protect the contents of my garage as well. The Covid-19 situation doesn't help either. I will happily pay any necessary fees. (They had 2800 bundles on hand just a couple of months ago when I checked). Second, I didn't realize the shingles I purchased required pattern matching. I have had numerous interruptions including unavoidable life issues in late 2017 and much of 2018. This is a request for an additional extension needed because of my ignorance of procedure. After approval of piers (8-16-17), and framing & sheathing, (9-6-17), I had a failing out with my roofing contractor and then decided to do the roof replacement myself. I got my roofing permit(s) on 10-31-17. I am requesting extensions on those permits for the maximum allowable time. Since this permit is dependent on the roof replacement for a final inspection, it would be much appreciated if it could be extended to 2-7-19 which would be the original expiration date plus 180 days. Had I known the proper procedure previously, I would have asked for this period at the first extension request. I should have investigated the situation more completely. I did not fully understand that the roofing would need to be completed for a final on this permit, since the roofing materials and footage for this structure is actually included on a different permit. My apologies for the mistake, and for not knowing the correct procedures. It would appear then that the roof permit issued on 10-31-17 actually did not allow me a full year since that work needed to be completed by the expiry of this permit. So I effectively lost another 2-1/2 months due to the permit overlap without that realization. As it turns out I would have been running out of time anyway.
