To the best ofmy ]mowledge this shvcture does not hold historic structure status at this time. Due to this fact
if the structure is to be moved to another location within the city it will be required to comply with the
provisions of the building code for new buildings or structures. This will require that the following items be
corrected and updated.
❑ Existing roofhas areas thatshow deflection due to 2x4 rafters spaced at 24"on center being
used. Additional roof rafrers will be required to be installed that meet cunent span
requirements.
❑ Existing roof consists of one layer of wood shingles and hvo layers of aspha[t shingles. The
roofing will be required to be removed to the roof deck, patch or replace existing decking
if required based on condition and re-roofed.
❑ All electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment will be required to be brought up to
present code requirements.
❑ All windows will be required to be repaired so they are functional and meet current egress
requirements.
❑ Al[ doors and cased openings within the structure have a head height of 6'-2 All door
and cased openings will require 6-8" of head height minimum to meet current code
requirements.
❑ The attic currently has 4 inches of insulation and I would guess that the walls have no
insulation. New R-19 insulation will be required to be installed in all exterior walls and
interior walls that abut unconditioned areas. New R-30 attic insulation will be required to
be installed in the attic.
The Uniform Code for Bui►dina Conservation defines a historic shucture as,
"Flistoric Building is a building orstructure which has been designated by officia[ action
of the lega[[y constituted authoriry of this jurisdiction as having specia[ historical or
architectural significance."
If this structure is determined to be historic, it will be allowed to meet the requirements for historic structures
as stated in this code. The purpose of this code is to encourage the continued use or reuse of legally existing
buildings and structures. These requirements are less restrictive and could accommodate this structure in a
more economical way.
