Midroof & Final Roof inspections for ROOFS 6/12 PITCH & OVER: 3rd party inspection will be
required for both the midroof and final inspections. The 3rd party inspection report AND
THE ORIGINAL PERMIT CARD needs to be dropped off to the Permit Desk at the City of Wheat
Ridge. The report MUST BE SIGNED by the Homeowner.
REGARDING ROOF VENTILATION: Roof ventilation shall comply with IBC Sec. 1203.2 or IRC Sec.
R806. The installation of ridge venting requires the installation or existence of soffit
venting. For calculation purposes, one hat or turtle vent equal to one-half of one square
foot of opening.
Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) is required on the entire roof
when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Sheathing and
mid -roofs may be called in at the same time, one hundred percent of the sheathing must be
complete and 25-75 percent of the mid -roof may be complete. Asphalt shingles are required
to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield
is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave
and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation
is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer installation instructions,
whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection of elastomeric or similar
type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the manufacturer technical
representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project address) has been
applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof material brand name) roof
covering" is required to be on site at the time of final inspection.

How to Prepare for Your Roofing Project and What to Expect
1. Be prepared for the noise. Roofers will usually start as early as daylight, due to time change. There will be constant
hammering for one or two days, depending on the size of your home. You may want to plan a day away from the
house while the job is in progress.
2. Please, do not loan your tools or equipment to the roofers.
3. Remove all items from around your home where roofing debris or bundles of shingles might fall, such as: patio
furniture, potted plants, gardening equipment, and grills. We will take every reasonable precaution to protect your
landscaping. However, some leaves or blooms may be knocked off from falling debris especially on very steep roofs.
4. Occasionally, we will use power tools to cut decking or shingles. When we do so, please check your power breakers
to make sure they are working correctly.
5. Please move your cars, motorcycles, bicycles, boats, etc. out of areas where work is being done, as we will need
access to the driveway in order to load shingles and do cleanup. There will be trucks loading and unloading shingles
and other supplies. Please remember, this is a construction area while we are completing your project.
6. Please, keep children and pets away from the work area. Everyone's saftey is of great concern to everyone
involved with your project; please do your part in keeping the construction area safe for all parties.
7. Nails that fall from the roof during the job will be picked up with a magnetic nail roller. We will make every effort to
pick up all nails. Please be advised however, that a few nails -hidden in the grass and shrubbery -may remain. Also,
after the first heavy rain following your project, keep an eye on the areas around your downspouts.
8. When removing a roof down to the deck or especially when Re -Decking, old shingle granules, shingle bits or wood
splinters will fall in areas with no ceiling such as: your garage, attic and storage area. Please cover items in these
areas and do NOT leave you cars or other vehicles in the garage.
9. When your job is complete, you will need to check your heater, stove, and furnace vents to ensure they haven't
become disconnected during the roofing replacement.
10. If you have a vaulted ceiling with a textured dry wall finish, PLEASE note the "Nail Props" or the "backing out" of
nails may occur form hammering, causing chipping to the finish. LER cannot be responsible for this as there are no
prevention methods. Remove all loose items from wall shelves/walls: pictures, plates, figurines. Hammering may
create vibrations that shake these items off of shelves/walls.
11. Your roof replacement should begin within 2-8 days from your material delivery, depending on weather & crew
availability. Once your field supervisor gives you a "Build" date, this can vary in either direction.
12. Paramount Siding & Windows will take every precaution to make this project as easy and with the least amount of
inconvenience for you and your family as possible. But, it is a team effort and it will be greatly appreciated if you can
help us create a safe and stress free project site while we are helping to improve your home.
13. Paramount Siding & Windows is not responsible for roof installed satelite dish removal or repointing. Unless it was
included as part of the project, then the removal and reset of the dish handled by PWS; repointing will always be
handled by your service provider.
14. If you have an "Open Cornice", painting of nails that project through the bottom of your roof sheeting, is not
necessary, but may be something you desire for a more "finished" look. If it is not detailed on your contract, and is
applicalbe to your project, please ask your field representative about providing you with an estimate for this
additional request.

contractors only. This type of permit is ONLY being processed online --do not come
to City Hall to submit an application in person. Permits are processed and issued in
the order they are received and due to the volume of requests, time to process
varies and is subject to change. YOU WILL BE CONTACTED WHEN YOUR
PERMIT IS READY FOR PICK-UP AND WILL BE GIVEN A SPECIFIC DATE
AND TIME WINDOW TO COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION. You will be notified if
your contractor's license or insurance has expired, and you may update those
documents at the time you are issued your permit.
For all other requests:
Homeowners wishing to obtain a roofing permit must apply for the permit in person
at City Hall. Revisions to existing permits (for example, to add redecking) must be
completed in person at City Hall. All other non -roofing permits must be completed in
person at City Hall. The Building Division will be open from 7:30-10:30 a.m.,
Monday through Friday to process these types of requests.
