Pepe ORDINANCE NO. 106 Series of 1972 TITLE: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 10 AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 24 OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE,` COLORADO, BY REPEALING CERTAIN OR ALL PORTIONS OF SAID ORDINANCES PERTAINING TO AN ELECTRICAL CODE AS PART OF THE BUILDING CODE OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE AND ADOPTING A REVISED ELECTRICAL CODE; SAID ELECTRICAL CODE BEING ADOPTED AS A PRIMARY CODE IS THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1971 EDITION, SPONSORED BY THE NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO, THAT: Section 1. The following Articles and Sections of Ordinance No. 10 of the City ❑f Wheat Ridge, Colorado, be and hereby are repealed: Section _1 Adoption, B. National Electric Code, 1966 edition. Section 2. Ordinance No. 24 of the City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, be and hereby is repealed. Section 3. The following new Articles and Sections be and are hereby enacted: ARTICLE 1. ELECTRICAL CODE Section 1._ Purpose of the Electrical Code. The purpose of this Code is to provide minimum standards to safeguard life or limb, health, property, and public welfare by regulating and con-_ trolling the design, construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location and maintenance of all buildings, structures and utilities and certain equipment specifically regulated herein. Section 2.. National Electrical Code-Adoption by reference. The National Electrical Code, 1971 Edition, copyright by the National Fire Protection Association, is hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated into this Article as though fully set out herein as the Electrical Code of the City. Except as otherwise provided in this Article, such code is adopted in full, including the index and appendix contained therein. Section 3. National Electrical Code-Amendments. The National Electrical Code, 1971 Edition, adopted by the proceeding Section is hereby amended as follows: (Section numbers refer to Section numbers of the National Electrical Code.) A. Section 336-3 USE. paragraph (c). Uses not Permissible for Either NM or NMC Non-metallic-Sheathed Cable. Change the entire paragraph to read: These types shall NOT be used as: (1) service entrance cable, (2) In any Group A, B, C, D, E, F or G Occupancy (as defined in the Uniform Building Code, 1971 Edition, Chapter 5, Table 5A.), (3) in any hazardous location, (4) embedded in poured cement, concrete or aggregate, (5) and as secondary feeder from the main service to individual panelboards in Group H Occupancies. Y Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days after publication following final passage providing it shall have been passed by an affirmative vote of three-fourths (3/4) of the members of the City Council; otherwise said ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after publication following final passage.
