ORDINANCE NO. 234
SERIES OF 1977
TITLE: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 15-1, 15-2 and 15-5 OF
THE CODE OF LAWS OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, AS ADOPTED
AND PASSED IN 1977, WHICH SECTIONS PERTAIN TO THE
DEFINITIONS, AUTHORITY AND RULES AND REGULATIONS OF
THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF
WHEAT RIDGE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT
RIDGE, COLORADO, THAT:
Section 1. Section 15-1, Definitions of the Code of Laws
of the City of Wheat Ridge, passed in 1977, is hereby amended
by including the following language in Section 15-1:
Park Ranger - An agent of the Director of the
Department of Parks and Recreation of the
City of Wheat Ridge, and an employee of said
Department of Parks and Recreation, who is
given authority to enforce the rules and
regulations set forth in this chapter, and
all future rules and regulations adopted by
the city council for the proper management,
operation and control of the parks, parkways
and other recreational facilities within the
city.
Section 2. Section 15-2, Authority of the Code of Laws of
the City of Wheat Ridge, passed in 1977, is hereby amended to
read as follows:
The Mayor of the City does hereby authorize the
Director of Parks and Recreation and the Parks
and Recreation Commission to enforce the rules
and regulations set forth in this chapter and
all future rules and regulations adopted by
the city council for the proper management,
operation and control of the parks, parkways
and other recreational facilities within the
city. The Park Rangers, as defined in Section
15-1 of this chapter shall have the authority
and may institute proceedings in the municipal
court for the City of Wheat Ridge on behalf
of the city against any person who violates the
Wheat Ridge Code. Said action shall be
commenced in the municipal court of the City
of Wheat Ridge on behalf of the city pursuant
to the Colorado Municipal Court rules and
procedures, C.R.S. 1973, as amended.
Section 3. Section 15-5, Generally, of the Code of Laws
of the City of Wheat Ridge, passed in 1977, is hereby amended
by including the following rules and regulations:

( T ) Defecation by dogs - It shall be
unlawful for the owner or custodian of any
dog to allow such dog to defecate in
any park, parkway, recreational facility or
other public place within the City of Wheat
Ridge, Colorado. It shall additionally be
unlawful for the owner or custodian of any
dog , which dog has defecated under
conditions regulated in this ordinance to
fail to clean up and remove from said park,
parkway, recreational facility or other public
place said excrement or feces.
Section 4. All remaining sections of Chapter 15 are to
remain in full force and effect.
Section 5. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take
effect 30 days after publication following final passage.
INTRODUCED, READ, ADOPTED AND ORDERED PUBLISHED on first
reading by a vote of 5 to 1 , thisl3th day of June , 1977.
READ, ADOPTED AND ORDERED PUBLISHED on second and final
reading by a vote of 5 to 1 , this 27thday of June , 1977.
