HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance-1989-0808INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER MERKL Ordinance No. 808 Series of 1989 TITLE: AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE SALARY FOR THE ELECTED POSITIONS OF MAYOR, MEMBERS OF COUNCIL, CITY CLERK, AND CITY TREASURER, OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, DURING THE TERM OF OFFICE COMMENCING NOVEMBER 13, 1989 AND ENDING NOVEMBER 11, 1991; REPEALING ORDINANCE 736, SERIES OF 1987, AND PROVIDING FOR AN AUTOMATIC REPEAL AND TERMINATION OF THIS ORDINANCE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO, THAT: Section 1. Ordinance 736, Series of 1987, previously enacted by the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, is hereby repealed. Section 2. During the term of elected office commencing November 13, 1989, the following specified elected officials within the City of Wheat Ridge shall receive the annual salaries specified herein, payable in the monthly installments provided herein: A. The Mayor of the City of Wheat Ridge shall receive an annual salary of $9,240.00, payable in monthly installments of $770. B. Each member of the City Council shall receive an annual salary of $3,960.00 payable in monthly installments of $330. C. The City Clerk of the City of Wheat Ridge shall be a full time position and shall receive an annual salary of $24,832.50, payable in monthly installments of $2,069.38. D. The City Treasurer of the City of Wheat Ridge shall be a part time position and shall receive an annual salary of $26,400.00, payable in monthly installments of $2,200. Section 3. This Ordinance shall be effective November 13, 1989, and shall be automatically repealed and shall cease to be effective on November 11, 1991. Section 4. Severability. If any clause, sentence, paragraph, or part of this ordinance or the application thereof to any person or circumstances shall for any reason be adjudged by a court of competent jurisdiction invalid, such judgment shall not affect application to other persons or circumstances. Section 5. Safety Clause. The city council hereby finds, determines, and declares that this ordinance is promulgated under the general police power of the City of Wheat Ridge, that it is promulgated for the health, safety, and welfare of the public, and that this ordinance is necessary for the preservation of health and safety and for the protection of public convenience and welfare. The City Council further determines that the ordinance bears a rational relation to the property legislative object sought to be attained.
