HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-1974-0293 Introduced ~y Alderman Cavarra RESOLUTION NO. 293 Series of 1974 WHEREAS, there exists a need for citizen input and support for law enforcement; and WHEREAS, the City Council senses the value of citizen understanding of police activities; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires citizen input regarding legislation which affects law enforcement; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to provide better communication between the City's law enforcement agents and the citizenry; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge hereby establishes a police advisory committee with duties as follows: (a) In consultation with the Chief of Police, to review all existing and proposed legislation which affects police activities and to make recommendations to the City Council regarding said legislation. (b) To act as a general advisory committee for the Chief of Police regarding the operation of his department. (c) To aid the Police Department in communicating with the City Council. (d) To act as a liaison between the Police Department and the community at large. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this committee is not a police action review board; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the make-up of the committee shall be as follows: one citizen of Wheat Ridge appointed from each Ward (by the Alderman of that Ward), one citizen of Wheat Ridge appointed by the Chief of Police and one citizen of Wheat Ridge appointed by the Mayor.
