RESOLUTION NO, 351
Series of 1974
DECLARING THE HALF DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS DAY
AND THE HALF DAY BEFORE NEW YEAR'S DAY BEGINNING
AT 12 NOON AS OFFICIAL HOLIDAYS FOR CITY EMPLOYEES
FOR 1974 ONLY AND ORDERING THAT ALL CITY OFFICES EXCEPT
THE POLICE DEPARTMENT BE CLOSED DURING THESE PERIODS
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge desires to
designate one additional holiday in 1974 for City Employees to bring
the City's holiday observance to nine full days to be more consistent
with the number of holidays observed by other public jurisdictions in
the area; and
WHEREAS, the afternoon before Christmas Day and the afternoon
before New Year's Day are periods of time when holiday observance is at
a peak and work productivity in the City as well as other businesses and
public jurisdictions is normally at a lower point; and
WHEREAS, the Council desires to add additional holiday time in
1974 to the eight holidays already observed by the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the half day before Christmas
Day and the half day before New Year's Day are hereby declared official
holidays for this year only, beginning at 12 noon and all City offices are
authorized to be closed at 12 noon except the Police Department. The
Police Chief is hereby authorized to schedule equivalent time off to
members of the Police Department.
The Council hereby declares this observance of additional holiday
time to be in the interest of the public health and safety, and hereby
further declares that this observance shall be for this year only and not
extended to future years except by future specific Council action,

19th day of December, A,D, 1974.
