RESOLUTION NO. 400
Series of 1975
TITLE: RESOLUTION DESIGNATING CERTAIN PROPERTIES IN THE CITY OF
WHEAT RIDGE FOR ACQUISITION UNDER THE JEFFERSON COUNTY OPEN
SPACE PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO PRESENT, NEGOTIATE FOR,
AND ACQUIRE SUCH PROPERTIES.
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Open Space Committee has adopted
a procedural policy requiring cities to designate by resolution those
parcels which its governing body has identified for acquisition under
the Jefferson County Open Space program; and
WHEREAS, specific direction must be given to the staff to
authorize the submission of such acquisition proposals to the Jefferson
County Open Space Committee; and
WHEREAS, such specific designations will help prevent misunder-
standings as to the intent of the City Council in its decisions on Open
Space acquisitions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Wheat Ridge that Ward A. Horton, Director of Parks and Recreation, is
hereby authorized, subject to the supervision of the City Administrator,
to enter into negotiations with the property owners for the acquisition
of the following properties under the Jefferson County Open Space Pro-
gram and to present such proposals, subject to securing qualified opinions
of value, for the following:
1. 45th Place and Everett--Inserted in the Parks and Open
Space Plan by motion as a high priority on a 5-0 vote,
March 13, 1975. Approximately.8 acres.
2. Hart Estate, 28th Avenue and Ames Street--Motion to es-
tablish a neighborhood park as a high priority, on a
5-0 vote, March 13, 1975. Approximately 5 acres.
3. Hayward Property, 29th and Wadsworth Blvd.--Motion that
the Planning Department pursue looking at this piece of
property to be put on the park plan, by a 4-1 vote,
March 13, 1975. Approximately 7.5 acres.
4. Lots 16 and 19. FTuitdale Valley Resubdivision (adia-
cent to the Historical Sod House site). Motion to
authorize application to the Open Space Committee for

purchase of land adjacent to the Sod House at a price
not to exceed $15,750, provided this is acceptable to
the Open Space Committee, and if both lots are not
acceptable to the Open Space Committee, that the pri-
ority go towards Lot 19. Passed by a vote of 4-2,
May 22, 1975. Approximately 1 acre total (both lots).
