TITLE: RESOLUTION CONCERNING JEFFERSON COUNTY COMMUNITY CENTER
FOR THE RETARDED
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Comm~nity Center, Inc., is pro-
viding valuable and necessary services in maintaining special training
programs, which serve a segment of the population of Jefferson County not
otherwise served by the programs of the Jefferson County School District;
and
WHEREAS, certain citizens of the City of Wheat Ridge are bene-
fited by the special programs of the Jefferson County Community Center,
Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge is aware
of the Jefferson County Community Center for the Retarded planned capital
construction on the property deeded by the federal government at Hampden
and Garrison as well as at the present workshop; and
WHEREAS, capital funds are necessary and needed for construction
of new facilities, included a sheltered workshop/work activity buildin~,
administration facilities, and group residences, for the successful con-
tinuance of this program; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge believes
that the Jefferson County Community Center for the Retarded is a viable
human services program and fully supports the Center's request for match-
ing capital construction funds from the County of Jefferson amounting to
$500,000 during the next three-year period.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Wheat Ridge that it supports and endorses the request of the Jefferson
County Community Center for the Retarded for matching capital construction
funds from Jefferson County amounting to $500,000 during the next three-
year period.
