RESOLUTION NO. 469
Series of 1976
TITLE: RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE
ESTABLISHING A CIVIL DEFENSE ADVISORY COMMITTEE, SETTING
FORTH THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE COMMITTEE,
ITS MEMBERSHIP, AND CONFERRING AUTHORITY FOR SELECTION AND
REPLACEMENT OF MEMBERS.
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge has adopted a Civil Defense
and Disaster Preparation Plan; and
WHEREAS, such plan is coordinated with Jefferson County,
other surrounding cities and Federal civil defense and disaster
preparation plans; and
WHEREAS, County and Federal Civil Defense Officials recommend
the establishment of a local Civil Defense Advisorv Committee to assist
the local Civil Defense Coordinator in carrying out his responsibilities;
and
WHEREAS, the Wheat Ridge Civil Defense Coordinator has
recommended that such a Committee be formed in Wheat Ridge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED bV the City Council of the
City of Wheat Ridge that a Civil Defense Advisorv Committee be hereby
authorized and established, consisting of nine (9) members, comprised
of citizens of Wheat Ridge.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Civil Defense Coordinator of
the City of Wheat Ridge is hereby empowered to select and replace the
members of the Committee as necessary based on their qualifications
to serve in such capacity.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the duties of the Committee shall
include:
1) Advice and recommendations on civil disaster preparation,
plans, policies and procedures,
2) Active duty in time of emergency as assigned by the
Coordinator.
3) Meeting and conferring on a regular basis according to an
agenda prepared bV the Coordinator.
4) Acting in a liaison capacity with the general public in
publicizing civil disaster prepardness information and soliciting
public support for such programs and activities.
5) Review and recommendation on the Civil Defense budget for
the City and assisting in efforts to obtain Federal and State funds for
the program.
5) Availabilitv to City Council for reports and information
requested bV Council.
