INTRODUCED BY COUNCILPERSON FLASCO RESOLUTION NO. 577 Series of 1978 TITLE: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION FOR A TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT STUDY GRANT TO THE COLORADO DIVISION OF HIGHWAY SAFETY. WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge has experienced an increasing incidence of traffic crashes during the past seven (7) years, many of which have resulted in traffic fatalities, and WHEREAS, the rate of these traffic accidents has exceeded the level of neighboring cities which has caused increasing concern on the part of the lfueat Ridge Police Department, and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police desires to begin a detailed analysis and assessment of the causes for these traffic problems in Wheat Ridge in order to find suitable methods and procedures to reduce the number and severity of traffic crashes and to determine possible organizational and other remedial actions to help alleviate this problem; and WHEREAS, Federal grant funds are available through the Colorado Division of Highway Safety to assist in these studies, and WHEREAS, the City's share of the total project cost of $28,190 will consist entirely of Police Department staff services at a value of $6,190 and that no cash match will be required; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge, that the Wheat Ridge Police Department is hereby authorized to submit an application for a traffic management study grant to the Colorado Division of Highway Safety having a total project cost of $28,190 to be completed during the period October 1, 1978 to September 30, 1979.
