INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER
TURNER
RESOLUTION NO. 685
SERIES OF 1980
TITLE: RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT TO ESTABLISH ONE
ZIP CODE NUMBER FOR THE CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wheat Kidge recognizes that
it is important to have one zip code for the entire City of Wheat Ridge; and
WHEREAS, the City Council feels that confusion exists in our community
when there are some five (5) different zip codes for the City; and
WHEREAS, many of the citizens of Wheat Ridge have addresses and zip
codes which indicate a Denver, Lakewood, Arvada or Edgewater address rather
than the community in which they live; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge has received
numerous requests over the years from various residents to change this address
situation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Wheat Ridge that the United States Postal Service is hereby requested to
establish one address and zip code for the City of Wheat Ridge, and that
this change be accomplished as soon as practicable by the Postal Service and
that widespread publicity be provided in advance so that our citizens can
notify mailers; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be personally
delivered to the United States Postal Service officials by the Mayor of the
City of Wheat Ridge.
