RESOLUTION NO. 705

TITLE: RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE PARTICIPATION OF JEFFERSON
COUNTY OPEN SPACE IN THE APPRAISAL AND ACQUISITION OF
OPEN SPACE ELIGIBLE PROPERTIES ALONG LENA GULCH FROM
CLEAR CREEK TO THE I1APLE GROVE RESERVOIR.
~HEREAS, the City is interested In the acquisition of
land for dual public uses of open space and storm drainage along
Lena Gulch; and
\vHEREAS, the City shows in the Comprehensive Development
Plan a trail along Lena Gulch which also connects to Clear Creek
in the vicinity of Kipling Street; and
WHEREAS, the City ComDrehensive Development Plan shows
a qreen Parks and Open SDace designation on the Future Land Use
Map for the total Lena Gulch corridor and Clear Creek corridor;
and
mIEREAS, Jefferson County Open Space Funds can be used
for buying open spaces, floodplains, wildlife habitats, and/or
providing trails; and
WHEREAS, the completion of this project will require
the donation or Durchase of land in fee or the donation or
purchase of easements on portions of the properties along Lena
Gulch from Clear Creek to MaDle Grove Reservoir;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Jefferson County
Open Space be requested to approve the use of Open Space funds
for all of the proper expenses involved in the appraisal and
purchase of all of the properties needed for the project along
Lena Gulch which are eligible for Open Space funds; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that for the acquisition of
these properties the Jefferson County Commissioners be requested
to consider the matching of Jefferson County Open Space funds
In amounts as deemed appropriate with the Wheat Ridge Open Space
Fund for properties that fulfill the goals of the County Open
Space Plan; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the negotiations with
individual property owners be conducted by either Open Space
Staff or City Staff as determined in each case by City Staff;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that at this time Jefferson
County Open Space be requested to consider the eligibility
and approve ",'here a?pro!,riate the use of Open Space funds for
the following properties which have already been referred to
Jefferson County ODen Space by seperate resolutions:
1) a portion of 3865 Kipling Street, Wheat Ridge,
also known as the Denning property;
2) portions of 4100-4154 Kipling Street, Wheat Ridge,
also known as the Van Hooser property;
3) 10105 West 38th Avenue, Kipling Street, Wheat Ridge,
also known as the Weller property;
