TITLE: RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT OF THE CONCEP'T' OF THE
GREEN SURVIVAL CITY CAMPAIGN AS OUTLINED BY THE
CITY ARBORIST, AND FURTHER EXPRESSING SUPPORT OF
THE SPECIFIC GOALS FOR THIS CAMPAIGN.
WHEREAS, we recognize the important contribution of trees
and other living plants to our environment,
WHEREAS, we are striving to make Wheat Ridge a cleaner,
healthier, more beautiful community for residents and visitors
alike,
~mEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge, through the Arborist
Board, has taken steps to insure quality standards for services
in the local green industry,
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge through its Forestry
Division, maintains a comprehensive community forestry program,
deserving of the "Tree City U.S.A" designation,
WHEREAS, Wheat Ridge, location of Colorado's first
commercial nursery, and the Carnation Capital of the \~orld,
continues to be the home base for many green industry
businesses,
WHEREAS, members of the community, including business,
civic and youth groups and the local press have shown interest
and support in programs promoting the goals of Green Survival,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, that the City of Wheat Ridge hereby
expresses support of the goals outlined in the Green Survival
City campaign as sponsored by the Forestrv Division, of the
Department of Parks and Recreation.
