TITLE: RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE GRANTING OF A CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC
NECESSITY TO THE HOSPITAL CORPORATION OF AMERICAN HEALTH
SERVICES OF COLORADO, INC. FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A
PSYCHIATRIC CARE FACILITY IN JEFFERSON COUNTY
WHEREAS, the population of Jefferson County lS expected to
reach 400,000 by the year 1984: and
WHEREAS, a psychiatric hospital is essential to the families
of Jefferson County; and
WHERFAS, this type of care lS not readily accessible to the
residents of Jefferson Countv; and
WHEREFS, one per~or, ln ten during their lifetime will requlre
this type of care; and
WHEREAS, continuity of care lS not presently available ln
Jefferson County. and
WHEREAS, this facilitv has received the endorsement of its
application by Lutheran Hospital, Jefferson County Mental Health,
Colorado Mental Health Association, Colorado Alliance for the
Mentally Ill, and other health and psychiatric care professionals;
and
WHEREAS, the need for psychiatric care for children, adolescents
and the elderly will be included among the services provided by this
facility;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Wheat Ridge,
through action by its City Council, supports the granting of a
Certificate of Public Necessity to the Hospital Corporation of America
Health Services of Colorado, Inc. for the establishment of a
psychiatric care facility in Jefferson County, over and above beds already
awarded to Wallace Village for Children and adolescents.
