TITLE:
A RESOLUTION URGING THE COLORADO ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES

opposed to any efforts interfering with municipal powers in
establishing sales and use tax base and rate;
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge opposes efforts to MANDATE
state collection of municipal taxes;
WHEREAS, the City believes that legislation has been prematurely
introduced without careful consideration of all aspects of such
a complex and controversial issue;
WHEREAS, there has been coordinated voluntary efforts through
the Colorado Association of Municipal Tax Auditors and the
Colorado Municipal League to streamline the present sales tax
system;
WHEREAS, major Colorado cities have standardized reporting forms,
due dates and have made efforts at standardizing bases among the
cities;
WHEREAS, voluntary efforts to provide reciprocal or cooperative
auditing between state and city have been made which has decreased
the amount of duplicate audits and government involvement;

an enormous loss of revenue possibly resulting in an increase in
sales taxes;
WHEREAS, the City is concerned with possible future legislation

OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO, that it urges the State Legislators
