TITLE: A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BY
AND AMONG THE CITIES OF WHEAT RIDGE, ARVADA, LAKEWOOD, AND
THE COUNTY OF JEFFERSON FOR CREATION OF A JEFFERSON COUNTY
CORRECTIONS BOARD
WHEREAS, Article 27 of Title 17 of the 1973 Colorado Revised
Statutes, as amended, authorizes community correctional facilities
and programs; and
WHEREAS, said Article provides for participation by local
units of government in the creation and operation of such facilities
and proqrams; and
WHEREAS, said Article provides that local units of qovern-
ment may establish a corrections board and may delegate to such
corrections board any powers necessary to accomplish its purpose;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the city of Wheat Ridge deems
it appropriate to delegate its community corrections board powers
and authority to one unified, county-wide community corrections
board in Jefferson County; and
WHEREAS, Section 14.2 of the Home Rule Charter of the City
of Wheat Ridge authorizes the City of Wheat Ridge, by resolution,
to enter into intergovernmental agreements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE that the Intergovernmental Agreement among
the City of Wheat Ridge, County of Jefferson, City of Arvada, and
City of Lakewood, for creation of a Jefferson County Corrections
Board, which is attached hereto, be approved and that the Mayor
and City Clerk be authorized to sign said Intergovernmental
Agreement.
DONE AND RESOLVED this 28th day of January, 1985.
