HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution-1996-1519 CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO RESOLUTION NO. 1519 TITLE: A RESOLUTION STATING OPPOSITION TO SENATE BILL 1996-69 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wheat Ridge has reviewed Senate Bill 1996-69, presently pending before the Colorado General Assembly in the Senate Local Government Committee; and WHEREAS, Wheat Ridge, as a home rule exercises rights under Article XX of the Colorado pursuant to a Charter adopted by its citizens; and municipality, Constitution WHEREAS, the citizens of Wheat Ridge value the protection that local zoning laws give to them and to their neighborhoods; and WHEREAS, the measure would impair those protections and is destructive of local authority to regulate and protect private property rights through the enactment and implementation of land use controls; and WHEREAS, the legitimate needs of all members of a community, both developer and resident alike, would not be protected by, and in fact would be injured by the unrealistic and unworkable scheme proposed by Senate Bill 1996-69. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Wheat Ridge City Council: Section 1: 1996-69, and urges indefinitely. The City of Wheat Ridge opposes Senate Bill the State Senate to postpone the measure Section 2. The City endorses the position of the Colorado Municipal League on Senate Bill 1996-69. Section 3: A copy of this Resolution shall be transmitted to the Honorable Edward Perlmutter, State Senator.
