TITLE:
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CAPITAL FUNDS TO BE ALLOCATED
FOR SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR IN THE AREA FROM AMES
STREET TO GRAY STREET AND FROM 32ND AVENUE TO 38TH AVENUE
WHEREAS, the City of Wheat Ridge has a Capital Fund which
is used for projects such as street and sidewalk construction and
repair; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that Ames Street to Gray
Street from 32nd Avenue to 38th Avenue is one of the oldest areas
of the city; and
WHEREAS, the sidewalks in this area have become old and
deteriorated with trip hazard; and
WHEREAS, it will be two to three years before this area
is addressed by Public Works under the current project rotation;
and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the city Council to help
preserve property values in the areas east of Wadsworth Boulevard;
and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the city Council to help
encourage purchase of these properties by citizens who wish to own
and live on the properties; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined by Public Works staff
that $100,000 would be needed for sidewalk replacement and repair
in this area and $20,000 would be needed for a temporary Public
Works employee to facilitate the job for a total of $120,000;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Wheat Ridge, to authorize the transfer of $120,000 from the
Capital Fund, Fund Balance, to the Preventative Street Maintenance
Account to replace and repair sidewalks in the area from Ames
street to Gray Street, from 32nd Avenue to 38th Avenue, during the
1997 calendar year; and that the budget shall be amended
accordingly.

1997.
