MULE -HIDE SA BASE SHEET
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
SA Base Sheet membranes are premium elastomeric roofing
products, manufactured via patent -pending AdesoM
dual- compound technology, whereby the membrane consists
of an SBS compound on the top layer and a pressure -
sensitive adhesive compound on the bottom layer.
SA Base Sheet membranes are reinforced with a strong,
flexible fiberglass mat to guarantee excellent
dimensional stability and provide pliability at low temperature
conditions.
SA Base Sheet membranes are finished with polyolefin
film (with printed lay lines) on the top surface and a split release
film on the bottom surface.

RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS
SA Base Sheet membranes are specially designed for
applications where use of hot asphalt, cold process adhesive or
propane torch is undesirable. Applications include new roofing,
re -roofing, re-cover and BUR repair.
APPLICATION METHODS &
RECOMMENDATIONS
SA Base Sheet membrane can be used as a
waterproofing base sheet applied to approved roof
decks or approved substrates in a sequence from the deck
upward. Do not apply to shingles, shakes or other residential
roofing materials.
Apply only when the weather is dry and
material interface temperatures (air, roof deck,
membrane) are 40° F (5° C) and rising.
2. All application areas shall provide
continuous support.
3. Apply only over clean, dry, and dust free
surfaces.
Prime concrete, aged wood, masonry, metal or
metallic surfaces, acceptable smooth BUR or smooth
Mod Bit surfaces prior to application with Mule -Hide #
121 Asphalt Primer. Primed surfaces must be
completely dry prior to application of the membrane.

DESCRIPCON DEL PRODUCTO
Las membranas SA Base Sheet son productos elast6meros de
calidad optima para la instalaci6n de tejados, fabricados
por medio de la tecnologia de compuestos dobles
AdesoTM pendiente de patente, en que la membrana
consiste de un compuesto SBS en la capa superior y un
compuesto adhesivo sensible a la presi6n en la capa inferior.
Las membranas SA Base Sheet estan reforzadas con
una fuerte estera de fibra de vidrio flexible para
garantizar una estabilidad dimensional excelente y permitir
que se plfegue a bajas temperaturas.
Las membranas de SA Base Sheet est6n acabadas con una
pelfcula de poliolefina (con tineas de referencia impresas) en la
superficie superior y una pelfcula de desprendimiento partida
en la superficie inferior.

APLICACIONES RECOMENDADAS
Las membranas SA Base Sheet estan disenadas
especialmente para aplicaciones en que no deba usarse asfalto

Las membranas SA Base Sheet pueden usarse como hoja de

4. Masonry or concrete supported by steel frame
or other steel structure shall be provided with
suitable expansion provisions and detailed for
movement.
5. Ensure installation of the SA Base Sheet does
not prevent or interfere with existing
construction ventilation.
6. Remove any moisture, loose matter, dust etc. When
re -roofing: Remove existing materials down to a
satisfactory deck and discard obsolete
protrusions (and repair any voids).
7. Unroll the SA Base Sheet and position
the membrane in the desired location on the
substrate (starting at the lowest point on the roof)
and proceed as follows:
Note: When installing a two-ply system it is always good
to start the installation of the SA Base Sheet with a half
width sheet followed by full width sheet. By installing the
first sheet as a half width sheet, the seam in the
cap sheets will not stack directly on top of the seams
in the base sheets. While the sheet is open, slit the
sheet down the middle the entire length of the sheet.
Position the first half sheet in the desired location. The
second half of the sheet may be used as the next
adjoining sheet along the low edge of the roof.
8. If installing a full sheet follow Option 1 or 2. If
installing a half sheet follow Option 2.
Option 1: If enough people are available to install the full
sheet lengthwise.
a. After positioning the first sheet of material,
fold the material back onto itself
(lengthwise), remove the split back release
paper from the exposed side and gradually
push the material into place.
b. Apply even pressure along the entire
length of the sheet (from the center to the
outer edges) to avoid air inclusions
or wrinkles. Roll edges firmly with a
silicon rubber or other suitable roller to
ensure
100% adhesion. Thoroughly roll
the sheet to ensure full contact to
the substrate.

Nota: Al instalar un sistema de dos capas se recomienda
empezar siempre por la instalaci6n de la SA Base Sheet
con una hoja de mitad de ancho seguida por una hoja de
ancho completo. Al instalar la primera hoja como una hoja
de mitad de ancho, la costura en las hojas de remate no
se apilar6 directamente en las costuras de las hojas base.
Divida la hoja por la mitad a todo to largo cuando
est6 abierta. Coloque la primera mitad de la hoja en la
posici6n deseada. Se puede usar la segunda mitad de la
hoja como la siguiente hoja contigua a to largo del
borde bajo del tejado.
8. Si se est6 instalando una hoja completa siga la
Opci6n 1 6 2. Si esti instalando una mitad de hoja
siga la Opci6n 2.

c. Repeat the procedure for the other side
of the sheet.
Option 2: If a "one-person" operation.
a. After positioning the sheet, carefully re -
roll half of the sheet. Leaving half the
sheet unrolled will help keep the sheet in
position.
b. Carefully slice the release film with a razor
knife across the top of the roll. Great care
should be taken so as not to cut into or
through the sheet.
c. After slicing the release film, slowly begin
to pull off the release film. The sheet will
begin to unroll into place. By slowly rolling
up the release film with a consistent, even
tempo, the sheet will be gently pulled
into place, minimizing air pockets that often
occur when utilizing other installation
techniques.
d. Press the sheet into place with firm
even pressure. Roll the edges firmly with a
silicon rubber or other suitable roller to
ensure
100% adhesion.
e. Re -roll the remaining half of the
sheet.
Gradually remove the release film from the
remaining sheet, repeating the procedure.
f. Press the sheet into place with firm
even pressure. Roll the edges firmly with a
silicon rubber or other suitable roller to
ensure
100% adhesion.
9. After adhering the sheet, it is required that
uniform pressure be applied to the entire roll area by
using a minimum 80 Ib linoleum roller, water filled
lawn roller or similar weighted roller. Care must
be taken to prevent injury when rolling membrane,
especially on sloped surfaces.

10. Position the next sheet by overlapping seams
and line up the overlap of the top sheet edge
with the inside of the bottom sheet's factory selvage
edge (32 overlap). Overlap end laps a minimum of 62.
Lay lines are provided on the SA Base Sheet 32
in from the edges of the sheet for aligning the
overlap of the side seams.
11. When completing end laps, cut the top corner of the
top sheet on a 45 -degree angle (start the cut
approximately 3 inches in from the top edge and
finishing down 3 inches from the top edge). Press the
top sheet down and roll thoroughly with a
silicone roller. When installing the next row of
sheets, prior to pressing down the seam, apply a
bead of Mule -Hide Mod Bit Sealant along the cut
edge. This will seal any void along the cut edge
when the next sheet is installed over the end lap.
End laps should be staggered approximately 3 feet
apart.
12. Remember to thoroughly roll each sheet with
a weighted roller as soon as the sheet is installed.
13. Details are completed with the use of hot-air
welding equipment or with Mule -Hide Mod Bit
Flashing Adhesive in combination with the SA
Base Sheet membranes.

10. Coloque la hoja siguiente superponiendo

Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) is required on the entire roof
when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Sheathing and
mid -roofs may be called in at the same time, one hundred percent of the sheathing must be
complete and 25-75 percent of the mid -roof may be complete. Asphalt shingles are required
to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield
is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave
and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation
is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer installation instructions,
whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection of elastomeric or similar
type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the manufacturer technical
representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project address) has been
applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof material brand name)
roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final inspection.

Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an app`oved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) is required on the entire roof
when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Sheathing and
mid -roofs may be called in at the same time, one hundred percent of the sheathing must be
complete and 25-75 percent of the mid -roof may be complete. Asphalt shingles are required
to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield
is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave
and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation
is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer installation instructions,
whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection of elastomeric or similar
type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the manufacturer technical
representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project address) has been
applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof material brand name)
roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final inspection.
Roof inspections for ROOFS OVER 6/12 PITCH: 3rd party inspection will be required, the 3rd
party inspection report will be collected at final roof inspection performed by City of
Wheat Ridge. If report is not available the final inspection will not be completed.

abandoned for a period of 120 days.
(3) If this permit expires, a new permit may be acquired for a fee of OnE~..half the amount normally required. provided no changes have been or will be made in the

exceeds one (1) year, full fees shall be paid for a new permit.

proceediing with successive phases of the job.
