The new pads were strategically placed for the new steel columns that were giving support to the walkway and entry platform. They were acceptable units to this engineer. There were some existing concrete pads that could be used to support some of the new steel columns that were shown on the construction docwnents. These pads, both old and new, were founded on good undisturbed soil. The new pads had reinforcing steel in them to help distribute the loads being supported by the pads. On July 18,2005 I observed the steel erection and the welding thereof. The steel columns were placed acceptably on the foundation pads and the channel runways for the deck support were satisfactorily welded to the columns and the deck plate was in place preparatory to receiving the new concrete deck. All of the welding connections were adequately and professionally completed. It appeared the ramp slopes were properly adhered to and will meet code stipulations. The construction of the above noted ramp does meet with this engineer's approval. I then inspected the pool area and found that the gate closer and latch were broken. I then informed the manager to lock the pool closed for safety until repaired. She complied immediately. Recheck of the pool will be one week from 7/27/00 or when the manager calls to verify repairs. A random inspection will also be performed in the near future. bg
