The panels are factory-assembled sandwich panels consisting of aluminum skins and an expanded poly- styrene foam plastic core. The panels are 3 inches (76 mm) or41/4 inches (108 mm) thick and 48 inches (1219 mm) wide, and have a maximum length of 22 feet (6706 mm). The foam plastic has a 2.0 pcf(32 kg/m3) nominal density, a f1ame- spread rating of 25 or less and a smoke-density rating of 450 or less when tested in accordance with U Be Standard 8-1. , 2.2.1.2 Facings: The facing material on both sides of the panels is 0.032-inch-thick (0.81 mm) 3105-H14 aluminum alloy conforming to ASTM B 209. 2.2.1.3 Adhesive: The facings are factory-adhered to the core with adhesives described in the approved quality control manual. The letter(A) or (M) in the panel identification number indicates the adhesive type. 2.2.2 Cleats: The cleats used to interconnect the panels along their longitudinal edges are extruded 6063- T5 alumi- num alloy complying with ASTM B 221. 2.3 Installation: The roof panel length must be continuous in the direction of its slope, with no transverse joints. Panel supports must pro- vide a minimum 2-inch-wide (51 mm) continuous bearing width at support points for gravity and wind uplift loads. For other methods of panel support, the effects of the support on the panel performance must be substantiated to the satisfac- tion of the building official. Connection of the panels to the structure must be substantiated to the satisfaction of the building official. The foam plastic must be encapsulated in minimum 0.032-inch-thick (0.81 mm) aluminum. Longitudinal panel edges are connected to adjacent panels using cleats in accordance with Figure 1. 2.4 Allowable Loads: Maximum allowable gravity and wind-uplift loads, based on strength and deflection considerations, are set.forth in Tables 1, 2 and 3. 2.5 Identification: Each roof panel is identified by a label bearing the name and address of Temo, Inc., the panel type, the evaluation report number (PFC-5176), and the name of the quality control agency (C.!. Professional Services). The designation (A) or (M). indicating adhesive type, appears on the foam plastic core, at one end of the panel. The cleats are identified by a Temo, Inc., bill of materials en- closed in the cleat packaging. 3.0 EVIDENCE SUBMITTED Calculations, report of a fire test conducted in accordance with UBC Standard 26-3, a quality control manual, and a re- port of transverse load tests complying with the leBO ES Ac- ceptance Criteria for Sandwich Panels (AC04), dated July 1996. 4.0 FINDINGS That the prefabricated foam core patio cover roof panels described in this report comply with the 1997 Uniform Building Code"", su~ject to the following conditions: 4.1 The panels are used only on patio covers regulated by Division III of Appendix Chapter 31 of the code. 4.2 Panel fabrication, identification and installation comply with this report and the manufacturer's in- structions. 4.3 Panel connections to the supporting structure must be deSigned and the justification submitted to the building official.for approval. 4.4 The remaining portions of the structure are de- signed and constructed in accordance with the code. 4.5 The panels are fabricated at the Temo, Inc., facility in Mount Clemens, Michigan, with follow-up in- spections by C.!.
