Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) is required on the entire roof when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Sheathing and mid -roofs may be called in at the same time, one hundred percent of the sheathing must be complete and 25-75 percent of the mid -roof may be complete. Asphalt shingles are required to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield is required. Eave and rake metal is required. We examined the attic to see the roof supports, the house for existing drywall cracks or other evidence of movement. There are always areas that are, not, observable and we attempted to determine the framing method in those. locations. Project'. 1937 S Jay Cif 80227 Page 2 of 3 Using the information we collected we were able to model the support system in this house, That model for the main truss in the upper portion of the house, looks like this: These are acceptable, The cathedral ceiling is done using a scissors truss and the top chord spans are reasonable, There is also a center wall in the cathedral section, When the roof is torn off, the roof deck should be checked to verif)y that the sheathing is nailed using 1, fastener every 6' along the seams and 12" on -center in the field of the sheathing, Please note, anytime you reroof there is a rapid change of loading as the old roof is removed and the new roof installed. This change in loading, movernent of materials mid men, and the pounding that occurs, can cause small drywall cracks. These are not structural.
