From the field observation report, the roof is made of Composition shingle roofing over roof plywood supported by 2X4 Trusses at 24 inches. The slope of the roof was approximated to be 20 degrees and the allowable maximum horizontal chord span is 6 feet between supports. After review and based on our structural capacity calculation, the existing roof framing has been determined to be adequate to support the imposed loads without structural upgrades. Contractor shall verify that existing framing is consistent with the described above before install. Should they find any discrepancies, a written approval from SEOR is mandatory before proceeding with install. Capacity calculations were done in accordance with applicable building codes. It has a conventionally framed roof, brick veneer on concrete block walls and a slab on grade floor approximately 8 1 /2 inches below the main framed floor. No additional loading is plannedYo"be'added 'to the roof or walls. In my opinion, the present garage slab is an appropriate surface to support any new framing that is planned for the new floor. It has also been proposed to open five feet of the concrete block wall between the garage and the living space. If a portion of the masonry wall is to remain above the opening, two angles 4 x 3 112 x 114 with long leg vertical and with 6 inches of bearing each end will serve as the lintel. Any roof supports that are now encountering this opening; should be relocated to the sides of the doorway. j~ An approximately eight foot wide portion of wall is to be removed between the Kitchen and the Living Room. Two 1 314" x 9 112" micro lams can be added above this opening in order to support the ceiling joists and the one roof support that is present above this opening. (2) This permit shall expire if (A) the work authorized is not commenced within sixty (60) days from issue dale or (B) the building authorized is suspended or abandoned for a period of 120 days. (3) If this permit expires. a new permit may be acquired for a fee of one-half the amount normally required. provided no changes have been or will be made in the original plans and specifications and any suspension or abandonment has not exceeded one (1)year. If changes have been or if suspension or abandonment exceeds one (1) year, full fees shall be paid for a new pennit. (4) No work of any manner shall be done that will change the natural flow of water causing a drainage problem. (5) Conlractor shall notify the Building Inspector twenty-four (24) hours in advance for all inspections and shall receive written approval on inspection card before proceeding with successive phases of the job. (6) The issuance of a permit or the approval of drawings and specifications shall not be construed to be a permit for, nor an approval of. any violation of the provisions of the building codes or any other ordinance, law, rule or regulation.
