Midroof & Final Roof inspections for ROOFS 6/12 PITCH & OVER: 3rd party inspection will be
required for both the midroof and final inspections. The 3rd party inspection report AND
THE ORIGINAL PERMIT CARD needs to be dropped off to the Permit Desk at the City of Wheat
Ridge. The report MUST BE SIGNED by the Homeowner.
REGARDING ROOF VENTILATION: Roof ventilation shall comply with IBC Sec. 1203.2 or IRC Sec.
R806. The installation of ridge venting requires the installation or existence of soffit
venting. For calculation purposes, one hat or turtle vent equal to one-half of one square
foot of opening.
Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) is required on the entire roof
when spaced or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Sheathing and
mid -roofs may be called in at the same time, one hundred percent of the sheathing must be
complete and 25-75 percent of the mid -roof may be complete. Asphalt shingles are required
to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and water shield
is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above the roof eave
and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections. Roof ventilation
is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer installation instructions,
whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection of elastomeric or similar
type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the manufacturer technical
representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project address) has been
applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof material brand name) roof
covering" is required to be on site at the time of final inspection.

Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) requires an approved inspection
prior to installation of ANY roof coverings and is require on the entire roof when spaced
or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Asphalt shingles are
required to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and
water shield is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above
the roof eave and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections.
Roof ventilation is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer
installation instructions, whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection
of elastomeric or similar type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the
manufacturer technical representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project
address) has been applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof
material brand name) roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final
inspection.
Roof inspections for ROOFS OVER 6/12 PITCH: 3rd party inspection will be required, the 3rd
party inspection report will be collected at final roof inspection performed by City of
Wheat Ridge. If report is not available the final inspection will not be completed.

contractors only. This type of permit is ONLY being processed online --do not come
to City Hall to submit an application in person. Permits are processed and issued in
the order they are received and due to the volume of requests, time to process
varies and is subject to change. YOU WILL BE CONTACTED WHEN YOUR

(1) This permit was issued in accordance with the provisions set forth in your applk::ation and is subjedto the laws of the state of
Colorado and to the Zoning Regulations and Building Codes of Wleat Ridge, Colorado or any other appflcable ordinances of
the City.
(2) This perrTit shall expire if (A) the work authorized is not corrmenoed within sixty (90) daV$ from issue date or (8) the building
authorized is suspended or abandoned for a period of 180 days.
(3) If this permit expires, a new permit may be acquired for a fee of one-half the amount nonnally required, provided no changes
have been or will be made in the original plans and specifications and any susp8n&ion or abandonment has notexoeeded one
(1) year. If changes have been or if suspension or abandonment exceeds one (1) year, full fees shall be paid for a new permit.
(4) No work of any manner shall be done that will change the natural now of water causing a drainage probtem.
(5) Contractor shall notify the Building Inspector twenty.four (24) hours in advance for all inspections and shall receive written
approval on inspection card before proceeding with successive phases of the job.
(6) The issuance of a permit or the approval of drawings and specifications shall not be construed to be a permit for, nor an
approval of, any violation of the provisions of the building codes or any other ordinance, law, rule or regulation. All plan
review is subject to field inspections.

Code Compliant Installation
The PV combiner NEMA 3R enclosure must be mounted in an upriflht orientation since a 1/4" weep
hole is pre-drilled in the bottom to drain any moisture that may accumulate inside. Mount the combiner
on a flat walL strut frame or on the side-of-pole.
Low Volta!!e Option: Push the breakers Dnto the DIN rail. Insert the finl\ered bus bar into the line
side of the breakers. Loosen the DIN rail end brackets and slide them tOl\ether so they hold the breakers

Hi!!h Volta!!e Qption: Push the fuse holders onto the DIN rail. Insert the finl\ered bus bar into the
line side of the fuse holders. Loosen the DIN rail end brackets and slide them tOl\ether so they hold the

All Ootions: Remove the appropriate knockouts on the bottom of the enclosure and install conduit
fittings or liquid tight cord Plips. Insert the input conductors (USE-2 cable in free-air with quick con.
nects or THHN/THWN.2 in conduit) into the box and strip back enoul\h insulation for proper contact
with the terminals. Connect the positive input conductors to the load side of the fuse holder or breaker.
Connect the nel\ative conductors to the PV nell"live bus bar and the wound conductors to the wound
terminal block. Connect the output conductors (14 AWG up to 1/0 cable) to the appropriate bus bars.
Use the torque table below to correctly torque all connections.

All heavy duty safety switches with DC ratings (2- and 3-poIe fusible and
non-fusible) are Underwriters Laboratoriesl!l (UL ~ Listed for use on DC
applications when wired as shown in Figure 1 (A, B. C and D). Additionally:
. Heavy duty safety switches are rated for 600 Vdc maximum open cirCUit
voltage.
. Non-fusible safety switches may carry 100 percent of the nameplate
current rating.
. Fusible safety switches may carry 80 percent of nameplate current
rating (continuous use).
. Heavy duty switches are de horsepower rated as indIcated on the safety
switch wiring diagram.
Heavy duty switches have a 10,000 amperage de short-circuit ratIng

Schneider Electric has oblained a limited UL ~ Usting (File E2875, Vol. 1) for
30-100 A heavy duty safety switches (3-po1e fusible and non-tusible) when
used on photovo/taiC systems (see tables below for limitalions and ratings) and
wired as shown in Figure 2. The National Electrical Codal!> (NE~ does not
allow the negative conductor to be switched when disconnecting photovoltaJc
systems (NEC Artide 690).
NOTE: Heavy duly safaly switches may be used on photovoltaic systems
with a grounded nagative feed. Refer to Figuras 18, lD and 2.
