Our office observed the soils in the bottom of the excavation, the existing pad and continuous footings, and the soil in the existing crawl space. Additionally we reviewed the structural foundation plans. The plans indicate that the allowable soil bearing pressure used for design is 1500 psf. Based on our observation, we have determined that the sub-grade supporting the continuous spread footing for the new addition will be adequate for a maximum allowable soil bearing pressure of 1500 psf. Dear Mr. Casebolt: Per your request, our office performed a short notice site observation to detennine the existing conditions atlhe east exterior wall framing, We observed the residence with Zack Casebolt with Clean Cut Contractors, The conclusions and recommendations presented in this report are based on the visual observations made, as well as our professional knowledge and experience in the engineering field and construction practices in the Front Range, Colorado area. Prior to our arrival on site portions of the existing brick veneer had been removed along the east side of the existing house exposing a 4" CMU wall behind. The portions of brick veneer that were removed shall be in filled with concrete. The concrete should have a minimum compressive strength of 3000 psi with a 3/8" pea gravel mix. Zack Casebolt reported to us that the homeowners would like to move the existing crawl space access north of its current location, We recommend that the existing crawl space opening be lilled in solid with 8" CMU blocks. Please refer to the structural drawings for details of the new crawl space access opening.
