The existing structure is a one-story wood framed single family residence with a full basement that was built in 1955. The foundation consists of cast in place concrete basement foundation walls supported by concrete footings, The proposed egress window opening will be cut in the same location as an existing window so that the edges of the new opening will align with the edge of the existing window. The interior of the window opening will be framed out with pressure treated 48 lumber on all sides. The joist bearing at the top of the window gill not be changed by the wall modifications. Based on my observations and review of the wall, it is my engineering opinion that the new egress window opening may be cut in the wall with no structural reinforcernent required.
