Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) requires an approved inspection
prior to installation of ANY roof coverings and is require on the entire roof when spaced
or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Asphalt shingles are
required to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and
water shield is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above
the roof eave and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections.
Roof ventilation is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer
installation instructions, whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection
of elastomeric or similar type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the
manufacturer technical representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project
address) has been applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof
material brand name) roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final
inspection.

Effective December 1, 2014, asphalt shingle installations require an approved midroof
inspection, conducted when 25-75 percent of the roof covering is installed, prior to final
approval. Installation of roof sheathing (new or overlay) requires an approved inspection
prior to installation of ANY roof coverings and is require on the entire roof when spaced
or board sheathing with ANY gap exceeding one half inch exists. Asphalt shingles are
required to be fastened to the roof deck with a minimum of 6 nails per shingle. Ice and
water shield is required. Eave and rake metal is required. A ladder extending 3 feet above
the roof eave and secured in place is required to be provided for all roof inspections.
Roof ventilation is required to comply with applicable codes and/or manufacturer
installation instructions, whichever is more stringent. In order to pass a final inspection
of elastomeric or similar type roof coverings, a letter of inspection and approval from the
manufacturer technical representative stating that "the application of the roof at (project
address) has been applied in accordance with the installation instruction for (roof
material brand name) roof covering" is required to be on site at the time of final
inspection.

On August 11, 2017, 1 visited the property at 3205 Moore Street in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, with Sean Gribbons
to review the proposed removal of an existing bearing wall on the first floor between the kitchen and dining
rooms, and the addition of new window headers at the exterior walls. The existing residence was built in 1960
and is two stories above grade over a basement. The structure is wood framed with wood bearing walls and
concrete foundation walls.
The existing bearing line to be removed consists of a wood wall with a dropped header; the south end of the
existing header posts down to the concrete foundation wall below and the remainder of the wall bears onto
wood joists in the basement. The low roof framing over the wall and header removal location consists of stick -
framed ceiling and rafters. The existing wall carries the load from the ceiling joists and from roof kickers above.
Prior to the existing wall and header removal, the low roof ceiling joists should be shored on each side of the
bearing line. Next, a new (2) 1 3/." x 11 7/8" Microllam LVL header is required to replace the wall and header,
with the bottom of beam flush with the bottom of the existing ceiling joists. The new header maximum span is
approximately 14'-0 from the south wall. Fasten the existing ceiling joists to the new header with Simpson LUS
face -mount hangers. The new header shall bear on new (2) 2x4 stud packs with a 2x4 king stud at each end,
in the existing walls. The south stud pack should bear on the existing concrete wall plate, and the new stud
pack at the north end shall bear onto an existing steel beam below via 2x4 squash blocks.
Next, at the new exterior wall header at the entry, the new 6-0 wide window opening requires a (2) 2x10 header
with (2) 2x4 trimmer and (1) 2x4 king stud. The new door opening at the second floor bedroom is within the
footprint of an existing window, and therefore does not require a new header.
Based on these limited observations and our structural calculations, in conjunction with the structural renovation
outlined above, it is our engineering opinion that the proposed structure is adequate to support the proposed
alteration. This letter is an assessment of the structural condition of the above -referenced elements of the
house and is not intended to represent a detailed check of the structure design or code compliance of the
building. Contact us if existing conditions uncovered during construction are different than those described
above.
